We were 4-6 going in coming off a 1-4 stretch including losses to Vandy and Kentukcy.
We beat #4 Auburn and #15 GT the last 2 games to get to 6 wins and then won the bowl game against a decent VT.

I don't remember the point spread on that one, but in terms of that, that one or the UF 1997 game were the biggest upsets since I started following as a kid in the 80's.

Not sure that was a huge upset it was two hgihly ranked teams. I would have to go back to the 70's
1975 @ Birmingham vs Bama gave Bear his only loss of the season
1976 @ USC throttled a top 10 USC 46-24
1976 @ Ohio St. beat #2 Buckeyes 22-21
1978 @ Nebraska knocked the Nubs out of National Title chance the last week of the season.

Miami in the '92 Sugar Bowl for the national championship. Nobody thought Miami was beatable (including themselves). ...it was a total arse whipping. Their Heisman QB spent more time on his arse than a New Orleans whore that night.

Alabama over USC was the biggest upset, but previous posters have the year wrong. The upset was in 1971 when QB Terry Davis (from Louisiana) pitched to Johnny Musso et Al. and ran the wishbone over#1 USC in Los Angelas.
The previous year Sam Bam Cunningham and USC had kicked our arses in Birmingham. Alabama had three consecutive down years 1967-1970 and Coach Bryant was being criticized. During the 1971 USC game the entirety of the State of Alabama was deathly silent...game was on radio not TV and you could walk in the middle of major streets because no cars were on the road. Cheers and groans could be heard from every house as you walked the ghostly empty streets. Bryant had secretly installed the wishbone and the Tide thundered out to a 17-0 lead in the first half and held on to win.
When the game was over, all of Tuscaloosa and a goodly portion of the literate part of the State erupted. Tens of thousands poured into the street rioting and celebrating. The fountain in front of Rose admin had soap bubbles...cars were spinning donuts on the quad. Twenty thousands fans jammed the airport when the team came home.
This game signaled the start of a new era for Alabama... the wishbone era of the 1970s... and signaled a change in recruiting from small fast to big and fast. It was second in Alabama importance to the 1925 Rose Bowl, the game that made Southern football. I was newly back from Vietnam and that night was magical. Roll Tide.

I distinctly remember we were 20 point underdogs to UF in 97 and ended up winning by 20. That's gotta be one of the biggest spread/point swings we've had.

That WAS a huge upset, but what happened in the Orange Bowl at the end of the season put somewhat of a damper on my memory of that season (I was in Miami that Orange Bowl night. ).

Garcia also played the game of his life.
That cannot be denied. Also, Alshon made some great catches - most of those were not anything our defenders could have stopped. Dude is in the NFL for multi-seasons for a reason.

Auburn's is pretty obvious.
2001 vs #1 UF with Spurrier.
We were 27 point dogs and won by 3. Biggest cover by a dog in a straight up win in NCAAF history.
