Still apropos. GT still has more SECCs than a large number of charter members. Some of you need to work at sucking less on a decades old basis.

So we should go to the school whom we have been rooting for our entire life even if they don't have our program or if they have a really crappy version?

I didn't graduate from LSU, got accepted, turned it down, and would turn it down again if I had the chance to do it over.

I've invested more time and money going to games since I was 5 where I can talk crap about it as much as I please.

Alabama football fan who is a New England Patriots fan easily. As I've said many times before, the only thing Saban and Belichick have in common is being on the same coaching staff two decades ago. The two coaches couldn't be any different from their coaching philosophy to the way they conduct themselves against opponents.

Agreed but some people still hate the school they graduated from and that makes no sense to me.

I appreciate the opportunity A&M gave me to get a degree and I support the Aggies against anybody except LSU. I was born in New Orleans and was raised a tiger. I don't , however , go around bad mouthing the school that gave me a shot.

Why do we have these retarded arse thread every week about this same subject. Talking about kicking a dead horse, when an organization/team is successful people tend to gravitate towards them. "I'm a better fan than you because I graduated from this university". Never understood this "Elitest" type vibe that always associated with this subject on here. Jesus... people follow College/SEC sports from around the world that have no association with YOUR university so I guess they trashy fans too.

Any fan that lives in a world of ridiculous absolutes and views things in terms of generalities. We all do this to a varying degree, but some are worse than others.

What makes the Bama+UK combo so bad is that there is almost no connection between them except they are SEC teams that win a lot.

You are a young whippersnapper!

The old UK + Bama fans are tied to Bryant and Rupp. Second and third generation kids will have cross degrees more often because of distance and politics. I know multiple UK grads with Bama kids in college and their grandkids will probably flip back to UK. Lots of Bama + Cats fans have deep roots in both states going back years before either had a state university.

The biggest issue in the Bama + Cats fan is they can hate Tennessee through both sports, now that is some real dedicated hate right there.

The enemy (Alabama / Kentucky) of my enemy (Tennessee) is my friend (Alabama / Kentucky). You freshman (Texas A&M and Missouri) and sophomores (Arkansas and South Carolina) just need to observe the underlying dynamics of the old folks in the room.

A school is more than its athletic program. You can be a fan of the sports teams but it's a different experience as a student. Overall there's more investment and interest in the schools academics and athletics than someone who didn't matriculate.

I didn't read the whole thread but the OP describes me pretty much to the T. I have family from Kentucky and my grandpa always got me gear when I was young so Kentucky is easily my #2 school. But dang the OP hates me. Lol
