Per every demographic comparison I see, Oxford is

1) Younger
2) Wealthier
3) More educated
4) relatively free of poverty level citizens
5) safer by a huge margin - It has much lower crime in general and a much, much lower violent crime rate
6) better in the jobs with lower unemployment
7) better regarding schools
8) better regarding infrastructure
9) better regarding air quality and pollution
10) richer in greenspace and public parks

But other than that . . . .

Oxford is routinely listed as one of America's best small towns and has a great cultural and literary tradition. BR I am sure has its quality points but in most every aspect is a less desirable place to live.

You consider that a good thing?

Also, which neighborhood in BR is larger than Oxford?

Oxford is the idealic small town.
The perfect college town.
Baton Rouge is a ghetto shite hole nicknamed cancer ally.

Truly a mystery.

You’re not doing any favors for the “literary tradition” thing here.

If you just go by the town itself, it’s Oxford for sure. It really is a nice small town. As far as the people go, the people in Louisiana would be my choice. To many snobby a holes in Oxford.

Weren't your own fans complaining about the bad elements around Tiger Stadium? Isn't that where Lane and his family will be?

I don’t disagree as far as the cons of BR.. My point is for a guy like Kiffin and their family. Those parts of BR, they will hardly ever be exposed to. Anything that Oxford has to offer, they can do in BR.. I asked the question bc people in Oxford can’t believe he would leave OM for LSU and shite on BR.. Oxford is a nice small town.. But that’s it

I like to call a place like Oxford a "college town" and a place like BR a "university city".... with the difference coming at metro of about 250K.

"College towns" simply have a different vibe than "university cities"... because in a university cities have more going on than just the college.

I mean BR has two universities in it. It has the capitol and government. It has refineries and other large employers.

They just have a different feel to them.
