Out of curiosity, how have they not done that? Which SEC team is playing former NFL players?

Tired of losing to LSU, but not tired of losing to Alabama? You should probably check your ego.

Nobody cares about Lithuanian pros. You only care about them because y'all are still embarrassed of Kiffin's legal battle against the SEC as prompted to ChatGPT and now you want to LASH out!!

Should start using Harvey, like the SEC does.

A unique detail could be found on the next-to-last page of the Southeastern Conference's latest filing in its lawsuit against LSU.

According to documents obtained by The Tuscaloosa News on Tuesday, Oct. 13, SEC attorneys used the assistance of artificial intelligence when creating the 41-page response to LSU's motion to dismiss the conference's lawsuit that first sparked over eligibility concerns with the football program.

I have no problem with you or your opinions. You've always seemed level headed and fair, and as you have pointed out and I have admitted, I don't know as much about the situation as you.

It's just a bad situation for everybody involved.

Using AI for legging out 41 pages is one thing

Using it for advice is another

The conference cited 14.01.01 as the rule that LSU/Kiffin supposedly violated in their lawsuit. That bylaw is an SEC rule which piggybacks on NCAA eligibility guidelines. Thus, anyone ruled ineligible by the NCAA, is also in violation of 14.01.01, which would include players on probably half of the teams in the conference.

So, the conference is picking and choosing where they want to enforce their eligibility bylaws.

True again. But they are doing it at LSUs urging...or at least when Kiffin when was urging them to do it. And that is why the offices are tired of it. Are you honestly saying you do not believe Kiffin or LSU or both have encouraged the players to file these petitions?

ALL of the players with TROs. And ALL of the players with ongoing current suits have university encouragement.
Every single TRO player that is on a roster had encouragement from that team. Those coaches didn't suddenly discover those players, they were already in contact and encouraging them

My way too long opinion is that LSU/Kiffin started this just to see how far they could get with it, pressing the issue as many programs have done, and will continue to do. I think they wanted to know where the line was before all the 5 for 5 players started showing up, with respects to what actually defines a pro and where the cutoff was.

I think getting these specific players actually on the field was always a long shot and the biggest contributor would've been Wright as a backup tight end. Harris still isn't even healthy.

There was a ton of public outcry, both because its football (more eyeballs) and because it was Kiffin, so the conference saw this as an opportunity to use the court of public opinion as a means by which to assert their power and put an end to a lot of these challenges.

I think the conference then realized LSU wasn't going to roster the players, especially after the CFP committee stated they wouldn't include teams with pros, but the conference still wanted its killshot, so they sued LSU and threatened expulsion.

If the conference simply didn't want pros to play, they already had created a rule and penalties to prevent that. But if LSU was never going to violate the rule, they needed an "action" that could be perceived as the conference "stopping" LSU, hence the lawsuit. The lawsuit is useless functionally, it's just a posturing tool.

At this point, however, the conference is getting itself out on a limb as they're running out of excuses for continuing this. They seemed to assert that LSU is recruiting international pros as one reason, however, that is extremely common. They said that Will Wade hadn't disqualified RJ Luis publicly, so he did. Now, they're portraying LSU's normal actions (such as requesting dismissal) as the school defying the conference.

It seems like the conference wants LSU to publicly admit to wrongdoing, but LSU is saying no, we broke no rules and we've already backed down, let's see how far you'll take this.

According to AG Murrill, SEC presidents voted to dismiss the lawsuit unconditionally, but the SEC office will only do so if LSU publicly admits wrongdoing which LSU doesn't seem interested in doing.

Not really. By being ruled ineligible, the players cannot play. Other than basketball, which the SEC paired with the NCAA to stop Alabama, what players are playing in the SEC? I mean...I don't know about all of the basketball players, but Kiffin would certainly be football...and I am unaware of any ineligible football players that are playing.

My main confusion, I think stems from people conflating ineligibility with rostering. Brett Favre (I assume) can be rostered, but would be ineligible to play, so no team would take up a valuable roster spot with him.

I can only assume that the SEC has told all teams that if they play an ineligible player sanctions would be forthcoming.

I shouldn't have gotten involved in this thread and will bow out.

This is what started this whole mess. The NCAA has a way of shooting themselves in the foot. I do have sympathy for the players, in that some might have stayed in college if that had been made a rule before the NFL kicked in.

Arguably the best player in the conference is ineligible according to the NCAA (and SEC). His name is Trinidad Chambliss. Heard of him?

The most well-known example currently would be Trinidad Chambliss, but there are quite a few others. Arkansas has a few, so does State, South Carolina has 2 or 3, etc.

Not former pros, but ineligible per the NCAA for various reasons, thus ineligible according to 14.01.01.

The SEC didn't have a rule against pros itself when this mess started, so they claim LSU/Kiffin violated 14.01.01 in their lawsuit however any player playing under a TRO is also violating 14.01.01, thus the picking and choosing.

The reasons for ineligibility are different in that Wright/Harris signed pro contracts, and Chambliss just exhausted his eligibility, but the core facts are the same. All are ineligible by NCAA standards.

My point is you can't say LSU/Kiffin violated 14.01.01 by simply recruiting ineligible players, when you're literally allowing other ineligible players to play every Saturday. This is just in response to the claim in the lawsuit, the situation changed after the conference created its new professionalism rule, which LSU never violated.

People have a bad taste in their mouth when they think about where College Football is at right now.

So they need a scapegoat. Who better than the bumbling idiot literally trying to cram even more change down our throats by signing former NFL pros?

Kiffin and LSU brought this upon themselves. Bend the knee. All your arguments were dumb. The 190 dollar argument was dumb. Your guy signed the NFL contract, nobody forced him to do it. If anything you need to take umbrage with his handlers. It's not me, it's you...

I don't disagree with you in that uninformed people like yourself need a scapegoat, so they find a convenient one without looking at the actual facts.

It's how low IQ folks have been manipulated forever.

Do we really have to do this again?

Diego Pavia in 2025, Trinidad Chambliss this year. Both ruled ineligible by the NCAA, not for having signed pro contracts, but for exhausting their years of eligibility. Pavia went to New York for the Heisman ceremony last year, Chambliss almost certainly will this year.

So they didn't sign a pro contract... doesn't matter. You don't just get to keep playing until you retire either, the rule had been 5 yrs to play (not start) 4. There are eligibility rules that apply beyond simply "did he try to go pro"

Does LSU appear scared enough to admit wrongdoing and accept a menial punishment that would seemingly appease the SEC and put this all to rest?

No? Guess that means they feel they have a good case.

If SEC leadership can't explain 5for5 or what an amateur is thats on Sankey.

If yall get to play ineligible players then so should we, time to lay it all out and get after the merits. For a guy that says he doesnt want to be in court and got his arse handed to him in one maybe he should just drop it?
