What is the SEC’s strategy in prolonging the lawsuit against LSU?

I don’t see how this doesn’t end in embarrassment for the conference. Sankey himself said he is tired of litigation. So why did they file opposition to the motion to dismiss yesterday?
LSU didn’t roster the players and there has been no claim made against LSU of any specific wrongdoing so the saber rattling and game of chicken seems to be moot six weeks later. The league’s case seems to rest on LA compelling the SEC to associate with LSU… except that never happened and the SEC has the right to vote out a member institution which LA has not disputed. The league of course declined to do so. It’s a bizarre argument.
Even if you enjoy dunking on LSU as a fan of another school, which I get, I don’t understand how a sober mind can logically conclude this is anything but unserious, and embarrassing for the league. And the more this continues, especially as other programs continue to roster players also in a similar gray area, the more Sankey and the league look absolutely retarded.

I think they are counting on LSU to continue to do stupid shite.
Pretty simple strategy, but effective.

But how are they going to win this lawsuit? Did the state of Louisiana somehow force the SEC to keep LSU in the conference against their will? That sounds like stupid shite to me.

You sound over-concerned.

So you think the state of Louisiana is going to somehow attempt to force the SEC into keeping LSU as a member institution?

LSU planned on doing so until the lawsuit was filed. If the SEC hadn't acted, LSU would have done so and the flood gates would have been opened.
Not sure why LSU fans act like the SEC filed after the fact, they did not.

Didn’t LSU file to dismiss the lawsuit? Meaning, they didn’t even Answer - they dismissed because the SEC’s allegations weren’t ripe? Did the SEC amend its complaint?

But they never did. Your post makes no sense.
And floodgates? See the news around the conference in basketball today? Were you paying attention to Alabama basketball last season?

Mafia mentality, smack any dissent down so they don't step out of line again and it's a warning for everyone else.

They’re just stalling because they haven’t finished reading the original lawsuit to Greg for nap story time.

LA filed a motion to dismiss. The SEC waited until the deadline to file their reply which they did yesterday. With the help of AI of course. LINK Just unserious.

They like saying someone didn't steal yourself because you caught them in the process and made them leave everything.

I'm seeing college sports turn to shite and evidence conferences may soon leave the NCAA.
I would be fine with Alabama being punished for playing that guy. I never once made a single excuse for them.

Maybe, and LSU is capable of that. But actually, they've responded perfectly so far. The school's response has really left the SEC in a very awkward position in this silly lawsuit.
I actually have the same question as the OP: What are they trying to accomplish with this case? I've practiced law a long time, and I can't figure out the end game they are looking for. It's almost like they are looking for some advisory opinion from the federal court. But federal courts just don't do that.

So because GoldenDawg says LSU will continue to do stupid shite, based on his terms, somehow the SEC will ultimately prevail in its lawsuit that claims LA is violating the 1st amendment rights of the league and forcing the conference to have LSU as a member institution against its will. Got it.

It thought it could get LSU to admit fault and take a penalty.
It was waaaay offf.
Now the Louisiana AG is laying out the case in public for what would come next and why the SEC is in trouble. It has been operating in secret in opposition to its bylaws in an attempt to harm LSU. And, it has done this without any real way of showing what LSU has done being any different than what other member institutions have done.
That was a not so subtle warning.
