3. Failure to spike the ball vs. Alabama in the SECCG, 2012

The most WTF part of that game was that we lost because Conley somehow caught that last pass. We have another shot at scoring if the ball falls harmlessly to the ground

Kick Six, obviously.

White receiver catches winning TD with one second left in the ‘16 NCG.

Kiffin’s refusal to run the damn bawwwl against tOSU in the ‘14 semifinal.

Camback.

I’m sure there’s more.

1972 Iron Bowl.

Bama is up 16-3 in the fourth and Auburn can do absolutely nothing. As Bryant said they could have let Auburn start every drive at the 10 and they never would have scored. Bama lines up to punt and Bryant tells Greg Gantt to only line up 10 yards deep so that the snap is shorter and to take a one step punt and just get it out. Gantt, for whatever reason takes a 3 step approach and ends up only 5 yards behind the los when he tries to kick. Then, he does it again. Gantt was a great punter but simply let his brain go nuts in two critical situations.

Auburn had no business being on the field with Bama that day and two stupid plays by our punter cost us a game we totally controlled.

While not as catastrophic as some WTF moments for Arkansas my "favorite" was in Bert's second year against Alabama (we lost 14-13) and our running back breaks into the clear, no one within five yards of him... and fumbles the ball right before he crosses the goal line.

How I did not have a stroke and expire on the spot I'll never know.

Another was Bama Notre Dame at Legion Field in 80. It is 6-0 Notre Dame in the 3rd qtr. Notre Dame is not gonna score anymore. Bama gets a turnover around the ND 35 and Bryant sends in an all freshman backfield. 3 wishbone backs and the qb. ALL true freshmen. 3 and out.

First time I saw people start to question if the game had passed him by,

2012 Bama A&M. With 2 minutes to play Bama has first and goal at the A&M 3. Bama throws 4 straight passes when we could have ran the ball in and drained the clock. Nussmeier was a dead man walking after that.

the wind blowing artie Crosby's last second field goal away from the uprights as it reached just feet away giving Mississippi the narrow win over Mississippi state.

Losing on a last second play to a backup QB on a complete whiffed missed tackle is not petty but it doesn’t seem bad compared to 28-3. Especially considering that the Saints were having one of their best seasons since 2012 I think it was.

There are a few for Auburn but most recently, I would have to put the Utah State game in there

After going 14-0 in 2010, winning the BCS and having the heisman trophy winner, Auburn lined up for its first game as the defending champions in 2011 at HOME against Utah State. We were down 12 with less than 2 mins left in the game and they had the ball JHS was emptying like a sinking cruise ship.

Somehow , by the grace of Pat Dye's pants, they managed to score, get the on side kick and score again to win with almost zero time left on the clock. Most of the people there saw it on sports center that night cause they had left

Got our asses kicked up and down the field for the entire game.

He was told to do it and if i'm not misremembering, JJ said so in the press conference after the game.

I wasn't there but in the 80s we lost an egg bowl because a heavy gust of wind blew a field goal kick mid air backwards. That is the biggest WTF moment in MSU history.

I was at the Immaculate Deflection Egg Bowl in 1983. Gut wrenching, we were in the opposite end of Memorial Stadium in Jackson.
When he kicked it, it was up, clear and splitting the uprights and we started going crazy.
Then the gust of wind blew the ball back and down to the left. Unbelievable. Still the most bizarre WTF finish that I have ever witnessed in person.
State fans went nuts and then seconds later Ole Miss fans went crazy. Still SMH.

For Failcons, I'd say the Saints winning a Superbowl first is up there.

2012 was bad for Auburn Football but the AM game had to be the worst. Left JHS at the half and watched from Amsterdam Cafe. Could not believe what i was seeing as John Football walked up and down the field.
