BYU "won" it that year solely because they were the only undefeated team. They beat 6-5 Michigan in the Holiday Bowl and didn't play a single team that finished ranked.

That decision to not kick that short FG with 5 1/2 minutes to go in the game chaffed my arse more than any game day decision Saban has ever made

I’m with you. Saban is the GOAT and I’ve rarely second guessed him. Even when I have, turns out he was always right in the end. Except for his decision to go for it on 4th down, up by a TD, with 6:00 minutes remaining and then try a FG that was improbable at best. FSU likely would have beaten Bama anyway but I will never forget the shock and horror of Chris Davis running down the sideline. I have to give Gus credit for putting Davis back there and in position to make a play. But no way in hell should Bama have lost that game.

1997...Fulmer and Cutcliffe waited until after the 33-20 loss to start Jamal Lewis over Mark Levine. Lewis wound up gaining over 1,900 yards from scrimmage in the next 10 games and UT finished the regular season 10-1 along with an SEC Championship.

I didn't mind that decision. Sorry job by the offensive line and Yeldon to not get that yard.

I remember another thing in the 4th. Y'all made a FG but the refs threw a flag for false start. It looked like no one actually moved though on the replay and then y'all missed the retry.

1984 Wrong way Bo is probably at the top of the list and #1 for AU.

Also in that same 1984 game Robert McGinty missing 3 field goals including 2 potential game winners in the 4th also comes to mind. Then McGinty transferring to Florida and kicking a last second 50+ yarder to beat us was seriously not amusing. That entire 1984 IB was a WTF moment as we were several TDs better that year.

2014 Butt fumble is the next one that comes to mind for AU.

I admit that was one of my ,most hated Auburn games. After AM's rookie QB went off and we did that twice, I felt like there was something shady going on.

I hope who ever set that up, enjoyed the money they made off of it.

There's a lot to choose from (2012 Bama, 2016 Tennessee, 2017 Bama, 2002 Florida), but those can all at least be attributed to great individual efforts or just run-of-the-mill misfortune.

But this. This is the only answer:

I mean, what in the motherfricking frick was that? What kind of godforsaken horse shite from the gates of Hell like that has ever transpired in football history?

The only way it could have been worse was if we had actually been in contention for something besides just trying to pull an upset.

That play doesn't really sting anymore in and of itself, enough time has passed and like I said, it didn't actually cost us anything major. It's just an exercise in "WTF" and reminds me of the other horse shite that wasn't as improbable but more hurtful.

But seriously, how in the goddamn does that happen?

I was there. And to be honest, I have no idea how that happened

I was so pissed that Auburn let UGA back in the game at that point, I almost couldnt get excited about it. But then I was like, no fricking way. One of the loudest moments ever for me in that stadium. For 15 seconds, I thought the stadium was going to collapse.

Stroke of luck.... Thats all it was

ETA: There are a ton more, obviously, and Earl Bennett getting called for the weakest "excessive celebration" ever to prevent a 2PT attempt to potentially beat #13 Florida in 2005.

2012 SECCG, not spiking the ball on the Alabama 10 yard line and 12 seconds left. Also, same play. Chris Connely catching the pass on bounds letting the clock run out.

Falcons: 28-3

Braves: Mark Wohlers giving up the Jim Letritz home run in game 4 of the 1996 World Series. Instead of going up 3-1, the Yankees tie the seiries and end up winning the next two games. Such a pivitol moment in that series.

Recently the 2014 butt fumble against A&M. Derailed the rest of the season. In the past 2003 against Ole Miss, fricking Obamanu dropped the easy go ahead TD with less than a minute.
