Sucks for fanbases that don't get to visit Nashville, otherwise:

Don’t sleep on Kentucky not playing. Their governor has had a 6 week erection.

Would it be any different than the last few years how Arkansas has been playing?

& now think about all the NEW CONFERENCES created by this downsizing & the playoff changes being made.

BTW, @ 16, it'll be 4X4 pods to make schedules easier. Imagine the griping about 7 div. games & the cd opponents. You would either never play the other div. than your cd opponent, or take 14 years to do 1 H/H cycle.

What do you do for 2020 purposes with an imbalanced league? And also what do you do about Vanderbilt?

Do you let it go because they're a founding member or do you replace them for not fielding a team?

Dont fret the details. A month ago all the AD's said no students on campus then no sports. This week I saw a blurb from the NCAA that said online only classes were ok and conferences will not have to have all members to play which is somewhat a reversal or change in direction the AD's put out.

Can't argue that it is possible. If they go this route, they should be told to find a new conference.

Don't know why they wouldn't play. They don't have fans at the games anyway.

It’s basically going to be exhibition football if no one else plays football this year and only a few colleges do.

It jut seems stupid and pointless. The interest will be minimal

Then they have no business in the league. Hell everyone used to enjoy a trip to Nashville and it would be a shame but they either sack up or go on about their independent business. Which I think is remote since they and others are desperate for that SEC check. They'll be there if there is a "there" and take their arse whippings and cash them checks.

The school without an AD would get what it deserves for being so stupid and not running their Athl Dept properly

Whatever schools don't play shouldn't get that $45-$50 million in TV Money that the SEC Office distributes for that year

You do realize Vanderbilt is the type of institution that would hold off?

Why? They’re smaller and private schools generally dance to the beat of their own drum instead of being pressured by the state. Further, TN hasn’t exactly been a hotbed for corona. Businesses have already opened up in middle TN.

I don't get this troll. Vanderbilt has a far richer and more successful football tradition than State.

My money would be on Missouri holding out over Vandy

As far away as they are from most East schools it would make sense if football decides to go local due to the pandemic.

No thanks. The SEC is difficult enough as is. I would support subbing in a school maybe like Memphis for a season if Vandy didnt play.

To try to give a reasonable answer to this scenario, the SEC can either continue on with 13 teams or try to provide a 1-year only option for a school outside the conference to fill the gap.

If the conference goes with 13 schools, then have Vandy's two Western Division opponents, A&M and Ole Miss, play two schools in the East, providing four schools the needed SEC game. The remaining four may have to choose an OOC opponent to act as a one-time SEC game for the purpose of the eighth game, like Ga Tech for UGA - something along those lines.

But I could also see the states of Oregon, Washington, California, and Colorado all saying 'no' to sports in the fall, so I could genuinely see, say, a Utah replacing Vandy as an emergency replacement school on the schedule for one year to assure the TV money rolls in. It's not like Utah is gonna win the conference, the important thing is the payday keeps coming.
