There may have been that kind of attrition from a team before, but I don’t remember it if so.

I think he didn’t take us seriously.

I don’t think anybody did. But talent is great if you have experience mixed in, but unfortunately we have very little right now. It’s why I expect us to be better as the season goes on.

You go from winning a national title to giving up 600+ passing yards and losing by 10 to State with a brand new head coach and transfer QB. Not to mention LSU

Maybe this excerpt from a PFF article on the Tiger Rant will clear it up some. Not necessarily an excuse because there were still other options or corrections available to reduce the pass yes given up.

Let’s start with the roster. LSU was already going to be without safety Grant Delpit and cornerback Kristian Fulton, who were each drafted in the early rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft. The Tigers then lost nickel back Kary Vincent Jr. to an opt-out before the season started and all-world cornerback Derek Stingley to illness the day before the game. That’s 3528 snaps not playing from last year's national championship secondary.

We had a guy who had surgery two wks ago and incoming transfer that had only been here 2 wks on the field in the first half.

My honest opinion was that CEO and Pelini thought the pass rush was going to save the day

I won’t be giving excuses for LSU but that QB you have is pretty good.

Coach O replaced Joe Brady with Scott Linehan, and Ensminger is still the play caller. Dave Aranda is gone and replaced with Bo Pelini.

Considerable downgrade, IMO. Why he wouldnt go out and find the next Joe Brady, or the next Dave Aranda is beyond me, or any of us among the fanbase.

I know in 2007 there was a totally different style of football being played but i remember Pelini being a great DC. I could be remembering that incorrectly but you have to be doing something pretty good to get a HC job at Nebraska coming from being a DC. I just couldnt believe they never seemed to make any adjustments. If yall dont have those late turnovers and kind of turn it around that game easily could've been more embarrassing, like a 21+ point loss embarrassing.

In his 1st game as our DC in 2005, he gave up like 450 yards passing to Sam Keller of Arizona State, and that 2005 LSU team was stacked. Granted that season started in a weird fashion (Katrina) like this one did. But, much like the State game, he couldn't do anything to stop them. It took a couple miracle turnovers and a lucky play at the end to win that game. Flash forward, by the end of the season, he had a top 5 defense nationally. I have no idea what this year holds, as LSU has a lot more holes to fill than they did in 2005, but I'm not going to write this season off after one game.

Pelini doesn’t know how to stop Leachs offense.

Both his 2008 and 09 Nebraska teams gave up over 30 points to leach and lost to Texas Tech

While I am tempted to remind everyone that we have only played one game, State deserves to rub it in a little bit. OK maybe a lot. So...

Players need time to mature. Those guys on LSU's team last year weren't great players until last season.

Also credit to KJ Costello, he was on the same page as his receivers and was dropping some absolute dimes out there.

He was on fire. I was really impressed with his anticipation and confidence when throwing, especially after a mistake. It didn't phase him. Encouraging to know that our freshmen backup gave him some great competition this summer, KJ spoke highly of him as well. Looks like the future is bright for us.

The BP hire was really perplexing to me.
