He'd never be given the time at any of those schools. He's old school in that he's built that program year on year, focusing on defense and the running game, building relationships in and out of state for recruiting. It took time, and is part of the reason why I don't think he leaves for a job where they need an overhaul. He's built it just like Ferentz at Iowa, and some years it will come good, some years it won't but I don't think it'll go back to doormat bad for them while he's there

It's also interesting that he's now counting bowls.

If Kentucky was in the SECW, they'd be 4-8,2-6 every year

.
Underachieving at basketball has made them more of a football school by default.

Carolina has won 30 SEC football games since Stoops arrived in Lexington. UK has won 29.

also - here's a breakdown for USC/UK vs UF/GA/TN since Stoops has coached in the SEC.

SC 4 UF 5
UK 2 UF 7

SC 2 GA 7
UK 0 GA 9

SC 3 TN 6
UK 2 TN 7

And in the last 6 years they're 5-1 against SC.
yes and the 14 seasons prior to that Carolina was 13-1 vs KY and still leads the series 18-14-1. Stoops owned dwag Mushcamp and absolutely clowned bonehead DC Lorenzo Ward.

Stoops has built a very good program in Lexington. the 2 Citrus bowl wins along with a Gator & Belk the past 4 seasons were won by a total of 15 points. solid programs win close games as part of its DNA.

One team plays a SEC West schedule, the other plays a SEC East schedule. Both teams generally have crappy non-conference schedules, although A&M did play @ Clemson a few years ago. Jimbo's won 63% of his SEC games at A&M & Stoops has won 50% of his in that same timeframe with an easier division.

So if Saban went to either Arkansas or Kentucky then he wouldn't able to win?

A complete hypothetical bc he ever wouldn’t go there. He left Michigan State to go to LSU. Kirby Smart turned down South Carolina to go Georgia. You sort of just missed my entire point bc you got butthurt about what I said about your program. It’s harder to recruit to those schools. There’s a reason Arkansas has never hired a championship level recruiter bc they aren’t going to Arkansas when they can go to Florida or Georgia. You don’t have instate talent or a championship pedigree.

I think he would win but he wouldn’t win a single championship. I think it is next to impossible to win a championship at Arkansas or Kentucky.

So Tennessee must be the most respected school in the SEC.
