Fifty years ago... Fayetteville was a lot like what Oxford is like now....
Fifty years ago... Oxford and Ole Miss had less than 10K in town and about 6K on campus. It is small now. It was tiny then.

I had a girlfriend on the LSU soccer team and went up there to see her play. I stayed the weekend. Nice place and people.

Been there a couple of times for football games and didn’t like. Was there for a few days during the summer and enjoyed it. Ajax Diner is legit.

Enjoyed several visits to Oxford. City Grocery was good, and a few other restaurants. The Square is nice, the bookstore, walking around downtown and on campus.

Good city and just the right size; not too big, not too small. Of all the SEC road games I've been to, Ole Miss by far had the friendliest fans and their tailgating in The Grove is next level. They also have some of the prettiest women you'll find anywhere. Their campus is really nice as well.

I attended OM in the early 70s....Back then it was a spot in the road.

I mentioned Fayetteville...
Auburn is another place that used to be about the size that Oxford is now.
Although Auburn and Fayetteville were always a little different in that they had adjoining cities that were as large as they were and Oxford didn't/doesn't.
I remember when Opelika was bigger than Auburn.
So many college towns have kind of lost their soul due to growth.

Lived there and raised 3 kids there… very family friendly and very good schools. Public education there is so good that the professors kids don‘t go to private schools and OHS has averaged 10 National Merits every year for over 15 years
