I lived in Miami for years and spend 2-3 months at time there now. I went to a Marlins game in Aug that was barely half full. Beautiful Saturday afternoon in a nice park with air conditioning. There's just too much else to do there and baseball is competing with everything. On a Saturday afternoon in Baton Rouge you'd be tailgating if there was an LSU football game. A Saturday afternoon in Miami you might be doing many other things besides baseball. About 15 years ago, my wife's attorney's office had good seats and nobody ever went so we would go. Sitting by ourselves and watching Albert Pujols play first base right in front of us. There was even a time when they were so desperate for attendance that if you spent $100 in groceries at Publix you got one free ticket. This was on Sundays, and it was encouraged for people to get a free ticket to be motivated to buy one more ticket to go to the game. We did this several Sundays in a row and we're usually the only people sitting out in right field where the shitty tickets were given away. It was kind of nice and we always ended up on this kiss cam because my wife at the time had huge tits.
