JetDawg,
Are you on drugs??? Atlanta has a terrible downtown. Nashville’s downtown destroys Atlanta’s downtown. I work in Brookhaven/North Druid Hills at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, so I see Atlanta every day and it’s not a fun city.

Just curious, but what "excites" you about downtown ATL?
A lot of really good restaurants
World of Coca-Cola
College Football Hall of Fame
Georgia Aquarium
Zoo Atlanta
Piedmont Park
Stone Mountain
Atlanta Botanical Garden
LegoLand
Those are some of my favorites. (I have nor been to Lego Land, but have heard it's nice for kids) The other places are really good, though.

What are the restaurants in downtown Atlanta? You can walk for blocks around CNN and Centennial Park and barely find anywhere serving food. It’s the worst downtown of any major city.

I don't go real often, but I love
Fox Brothers Bar-B-Q
Houston's has great steaks and a Hawaiian Ribeye that's a killer
There are a lot of hidden gems that I have gone to when my wife and i go up for a Christmas program at Woodruff Arts Center. Had some really good Italian food (Can't remember the name)
I mean...people keep complaining that it isn't in walking distance, but people aren't going there without a car. (Probably) While not great I also enjoy The Sun Dial Restaurant. It depends on how much money you want to spend. I have never had a problem finding a good restaurant in Atlanta.
Don't misunderstand me. I am not some huge fan of Atlanta, but for people to act like it is a horrible place obviously haven't been there, or made no effort to research stuff to do or restaurants.

Not for the 2013 Cotton Bowl for one fan base…

They really need to focus on making downtown better. I only ever consider going there for sporting events, and even then I despise it. The only places I can think of around that area are Stats and Dantanna’s (which I’m pretty sure is closed now).
Legit the only thing to do is tailgate, hit the game, and then look like Jon Snow during the battle of the bastards trying to find transit out of downtown.
Atlanta’s issue, for a whole lotta problems, is the spread. There’s a ton of great places to eat and hangout, if you’re ok with it taking 30 minutes to travel 3.2 miles.
The Braves set the example for what you can accomplish by leaving the downtown/center of Atlanta area.
Does Smyrna/Cumberland have world class anything? No. But they had the land to provide the Braves with a chance to build entertainment and dining for themselves, and now they’re swimming in money. I hate large crowds outside of sports, but I’ll go to the Battery even when the Braves aren’t playing because they curated a fun and safe environment
Until Atlanta proves it knows how to properly govern itself, all the teams left in downtown should be banding together to try to carve out some positive change in the area.

I don’t understand the fascination with moving the game out of ATL. It’s the best location with the best stadium.

nah.. nashville is arse for that type of environment.

Nashville's a nice town and I love the country music, but more "fun" than ATL? Uh-uh.
Some of us are not faces of gang violence and race riots. I mean sure a good ANTIFA week long pyro spree often reminds us of those bonfires of high school but then the whole mentally ill homeless problem reminds us too much of that one kid that killed themself in 10th grade

That is categorically false. Atlanta is one of the best culinary cities in America. Atlanta is a convention city, Nashville isn’t. Atlanta is the highest concentration of SEC alumni in the US. Nobody is trying to visit a bunch of out of date Honkey Tonks. Downtown Atlanta has one of the cleanest downtowns in America and it’s 1 of the 5 best stadiums in the NFL. Way more direct flights to Atlanta. And it’s less than a 6 hour drive for 10 of the leagues 14 teams. There is a reason Nashville doesn’t host a major bowl game and the SECC has been in Atlanta for 27 years.
As far as closer to you SEC west baws, since none of you other than Auburn, Alabama, or LSU has been there in 20 years, and they’re all 3 closer to Atlanta, I’m not sure why you care.

Downtown around Philips/MBS is better than it used to be but it still isn't great in terms of bars and restaurants. It is well behind other parts of Atlanta which are great for pedestrian traffic and bars/restaurants (Midtown, Highlands, Buckhead, Beltline/O4W, etc). And as Dirty noted above, the emergence of the Battery has made that even more noticeable as it's an absolutely elite place to do a ballgame and everything before/after.
But my question would be where are they going to build the stadium? If it's right where Nissan Stadium is, then that would be easy to downtown like the current one is (over the bridge). However, if it's more like where the new MLS stadium is then it would have the exact same issue Atlanta has - not being in the middle of all the stuff people want to walk to from/to a game.

Lots of talk of the Titans building an enclosed stadium like ATL, Vegas, and the new LA stadium. This would mean Nashville would be able to host Super Bowls, Final 4's, CFP, and other big events.
With that being said - would you like to see the SEC Championship rotated between ATL and Nashville? (And no Texas and OU we aren't moving the game to Dallas because that is not the south east). Nashville is more fun than ATL now and would be a great host for the game. I hope this happens:
When Texas and OU join we are going to need to rotate the game.. ATL, Nashville, Dallas, Houston, NOLA, Legion Field

I’m actually surprised it’s never been in NOLA. I assume it’s bc the SEC is also tied to the Sugar bowl. But if that’s case. It’s also tied to the peach bowl.

Downtown Atlanta is too close to the city's extensive ghettoland. I imagine Atlanta-proper was a great place 60 years ago. Nashville is hot right now, but things tend to change in time.

I'm sure those in the SEC office will use that exact argument if Dallas courts them for the SECCG. frick you Texas... you aren't the southeast. I bet you make a great businessman. Give the middle finger to the biggest market in the area.

Atlanta is a cesspool, so yes, it would be much better in Nashville.

Atlanta is a $hitty place, and arm pit of our great state. I would rather it go somewhere else just to take away from ATL economy, but unlike Nashville, Atl is deep in the Southeast, and is a huge football state.
