I finally understand why all the SEC wanted WVA instead of Missouri. West Virginia would have fit right in financially.

This would be a great jumping off point for a discussion on class consciousness. But first, I need to remind you that we never wanted Missouri in the SEC, something about poop swastikas and SJWs, and Bama going in dry this weekend

UWV would have been a much better member of the conference and more competitive in almost every sport.
There is no doubt that the only reason Mizzou is in the conference is the TV market that they are in.

To get a accurate picture you would need to compare both income and cost of living for each state.

This. $60k/yr in South Louisiana affords a pretty decent living: nice house in a safe suburb, a boat, and maybe a share in a hunting/fishing camp with some friends.
$60k/yr on the West Coast or New York City area is barely scraping by.
