oh, and re wealth, A&M has it in athletics (which is NOT supported by the PUF) because of three main factors:

1) large alumni base due to last 40 years

2) very productive graduates excelling in engineering and business, among others, with a great top-rated reputation among business recruiters (A&M is #1 in # of CEOs

and

3) incredible school loyalty. being an Aggie, to an Aggie, is more than just a school or team identitiy. Most Aggies do actually believe that it means something special, as a person, to be an Aggie. Others will laugh and poke fun, but that is part of the deal.

a cult? in a sense, yes.

i guess like the moonies and the scientologists, we love handing over our money to the thing.

Chant had nothing to do with money. Everything to do with aggy losing and blaming their mean bad big brother.

And it started back when the biggest school in the football-mad state was regularly beating what amounted to the Texas version of The Citadel.

The notable part wasn’t that A&M beat Texas so rarely. It was that we won any at all.

Aggies couldn’t even buy a title when they were paying players illegally

Yes

Poor Aggies is in reference to their inability to win national titles.

They called them "poor Aggies" because they always had their hopes up to beat Texas every year and have a respectable record, but they would always fail. Calling the "poor Aggies" is akin to calling them "poor things". Pity. That's all it is.

aTm has always been a loaded school though. Lot's of Oil and Tech money gets funneled into aTm from Alum.

Texas schools in general are rich as hell

This NIL era has been very good for them

Name another state that has put 5 teams in the playoff. They've had 3 teams make it to the March Madness finals

I typed it into Google and got this...the math is not adding up at all. How are there 3 Texas teams when 2 of teams in the Final 4 are Duke and Florida......very odd.

In the 2025 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, Florida made the Final Four alongside three Texas teams: Texas Tech, Houston, and a fourth team (Duke). Florida and the three Texas schools comprised nearly the entire Final Four, with the Gators ultimately defeating Houston 65-63 to win the National Championship in San Antonio.

Wtf am I missing..Google is much smarter

“Poor Aggie” was never referencing money.

It was always a dig when they lost a game.

All I know is I have known three Aggie females well..

My friend's mom(who was no doubt a MILF, his dad was very wealthy(they had a Ram 3500, a Corvette, a Benz convertable..and I think when 16 their daughter got a BMW. My got a truck, then joined the Marine Core and was medically discharged(Kidneys failed). After that a very bad cocaine addiction when he lived in Boca Raton(pretty sure 90 percent of the people there do it, is a very wealthy city).

My ex's best friend..who was fricking hot..we had a pool and she always wore very small bikinis..yes

And an average looking women. 5 out of 10 in most places. Prob a 2 at Texas A&M.

I kinda liked the old stadium with Texas Aggies in the endzone.

Their fans were very nice to us even though they spanked us in '93

It was a fun little rivalry and now not so much.

Was it comical when Aggie beat y'all 73-0 in '93?

A&M has a good engineering department and specifically petroleum engineering. Many Ags, not me, became wealthy in that field and give back.

Also, Lowry Mays. Business school. He owned the IHeart of the 90s. It produces leaders in business

I argued with my brother in law when they did it. His comment was we would never win a national championship with RC.

I said 12 seasons without a losing one is not enough? He said it wasn’t enough.
