What's the story with this? Did the hire fall through?

I don't know what is going on, but it's entertaining

the "frowned upon" practice of SEC schools hiring away coaches from other SEC schools happens frequently
Well, I think that pretty much everyone agrees that it is fair game when a position coach takes a coordinator job at another SEC school, because he is advancing in his own career. Pruitt becoming head coach at UTenn is definitely a step up from his current situation.
But it's the whole bush league "lateral move" thing that A&M introduced from the Big XII (when they went around Miles and secretly negotiated with Chavis before LSU's season was even over) that is more of a concern.
I guess the real question is, since the SEC does have the Big 6-Little 8 rift issue, could one argue that the Mullen hire was actually a step up in his career instead of a lateral move?

If we can't have nice things like a GM, I want Tennessee to have them, not another west team.
What did they do, offer him the GM spot then give him an application for an intern when he showed up?
