One is a guy who gets discussed every coaching search and is a coordinator, and I've seen no OU people screaming about their coup of pulling Venables.
The other was HC at a comparable program to LSU and likely had no interest in the LSU gig, yet LSU fans shouted it from the rooftops and laughed at anyone who expressed doubt.
I don't see the similarities.

I work with several Clemson grads who love Venables. They do say that he does not interview terrible, a la Charlie Strong, but it's close. Lolololol.

Venables is a better fit when OU comes to the SEC. Obviously, Lincoln Riley was scared of the SEC grind.

K. Still a panic hire and a really weird dude. Like I said a great coordinator but a big risk as a HC. He would definitely get my attention as a DC hire for OU but as HC? Like I said it sounds like a panic hire.

That's my thought, as well. I would rather have Venables than Riley. Riley was never going to win in the SEC without a defense.
All those USC fans crowing don't realize he's bringing Grinch with him. So, he'll still have no defense (which will be fine out West), and they'll get curb stomped when he reaches the playoffs. Like always.
