I am completely unbiased and believe Vandy should replace Ole Miss in the playoffs.

Pretty much agree. If it was a 16, even more teams would be complaining about being left out. 24 team playoff? Now thats just stupid.
Imo, 8 teams is best, especially for fans that travel long distances these days. On campus for Quaterfinals and Semifinals. Neutral site for championship game.
Bowl games for everyone else outside the top 8. Not perfect, but no situation ever will be.

You've got 3 locks from the Big Ten. 3 locks courtesy of conference champs from ACC, Big 12 and best G5 team. Notre Dame is a lock. That gets us down to 5 spots. SEC can only get 5 in if the Big 12 and ACC only get one bid.

Ole Miss played the easiest schedule in the league.
Except that we played two top-10 teams (UGA and OK) at their place and split 1-1. Vandy played two lower ranked teams and lost both. We also demolished a solid Tulane team that is favored to be a conference champion and in the CFP.

I think they should be in, but we had to make sure we were fair and saved spots for lesser teams based on conference affiliation or some such nonsense. Tulane nor North Texas nor James Madison nor Virginia nor Duke should be ANYWHERE NEAR a CFP.

Not really. We'd all be pissed off, too. It's ridiculous as hell, pimpin'
I would not expect Auburn fans to have any sympathy for anyone on this topic, y’all are right there with FSU on the all time royally fricked teams list — but it seems we all have a little love to spare for Vandy

Tbh the alternative to guaranteeing other conferences bids is the SEC becomes a 40 team league & the rest of CFB quits.

Just like Indiana.
I can’t wait for a Vanderbilt-Indiana matchup in the bluebonnet bowl.

That's where we are headed anyway.
Just move G5 to the spring like they did with FCS a few years ago and let them do their own championship. Or consolidate them with FCS. They'd probably do a lot better than trying to hang on in the current landscape.

Vandy should be in.
If they took OM’s place it would be a travesty
And hilarious

Well I’m not gonna argue with that.
It will be better, but it’s also a little bit sad.

There is a logjam of 11-1, 10-2 teams this year. Someone is always going to be left out in that scenario.
Posted on 12/2/25 at 9:04 am to blackoutdore
It sucks because this Vandy team is legitimately very good and if this year didn't have as many 2 loss borderline playoff teams as it does Vandy would already be in. This 10-2 Vandy team would have gotten in last year's playoff for example.
Vandy really needed LSU to hang on and not blow their 4th quarter lead last Saturday. Vandy would have taken OU's playoff spot if OU had
lost last Saturday

Yep. Schedule draw helps in situations like this. This year's Vamdy team goes 11-1 with Indiana's 2024 schedule which is the weakest schedule I've ever seen for a Big Ten or SEC playoff team. Played only 3 games against teams that won 7 or more games last year and got blown out against the only great team they played during the regular season.
This year's Indiana team is totally legit btw, borderline elite in fact. Not hating on IU but y'all's schedule last season was cupcake city

Eh….frick Vandy. I hope you don’t get in.

I think the first thing throwing off expectations this year are Bama and Ole Miss somehow both losing 3 games last year.
I am not sure you will ever see 2 top 5 SEC teams drop 3 games again.
Had Bama and Ole Miss gone 10-2 last year, the final 3 At large spots would have been between Tennessee, Ole Miss, Bama, and Indiana. Bama or Ole Miss would have probably been left out.
