I found this the other day and was curious how teams stacked up on total salary paid to the entire coaching staff, not just the head coach. I thought I would share for those other nerds like me.

These figures are from January so they aren't 100% up to date. For example, it has Pete Golding at $2.1 M and he got a raise over the summer that put him at $2.6 M, which is now the highest paid assistant coach. But it's still cool to see the total salary figure for each school.

My takeaways:

Damn, Georgia pays a lot for their coaches.

Kentucky is paying a ton to be in last place in the SEC.

Florida and Auburn lag way behind in "Big 6" team salaries and these are their highest paid staffs in program history. (But Malzahn did make more than Freeze does now)

I am very surprised to see A&M on the lower end of this chart.

Vanderbilt's assistant salary pool is undisclosed.

It was a copy paste error.

EDIT: I fixed the error.

It really is. You can thank A&M for that, I guess.

I didn't realize Auburn was so poor. They are getting what they pay for, honestly.

Maybe lagging behind but it was still an overpay

Don't get me wrong. I'm not for overpaying for something that isn't earned (see Kentucky). I was just curious where everyone stood on the assistant salary pools.

It was signed before A&M.

It’s a terrible contract. Just like the lifetime contract that was created for Cal. Barnhart is catching a lot of heat, rightfully, for both of those. We just lucked out with Arkansas taking Cal or it would’ve been worse.

ETA: It’s also worth noting when it was good with Stoops it was fantastic by Kentucky FB standards. So I don’t want give the impression fans aren’t grateful. But, this season and the last have fallen off (for a lot of reasons). Dude’s ego is too big to allow an OC to function like an adult.

Has Stoops gotten a contract extension since the A&M debacle?

Elko will definitely get a raise this year if he keeps this team doing what it’s doing

A complete program build and mostly new players, after only 1 year it’s looking ok

Technically maybe?

Unless it changed iirc he gets an extra year every time he gets 7 wins.

He got 7 the year A&M attempted to poach and then returned him

But no, no big extension by AD after A&M

Elko's contract is more of a bonus based contract. The better the team does, the more he makes.

Yeah, that is how we have Kiffin's contract as well, and to be honest, that makes a lot more sense than just throwing it all in base salary. For example, Kiffin has targets that if he hits, can give him an additional $2.6 million.
