Last year when Aggie has their huge program- sustaining win against LSU and all the non- stop media attention that went with that crazy game, Texas spent the day in Lawrence with about 10 fans watching. I mean, game, set, match right there.

Tu makes TTU and BU/TCU (I forget which) come okay then at home every thanksgiving. They’ve reached the point where no one even shows up for these. There may be 50k people there in a 100k seat stadium. The student section is in the dozens, not thousands. They’re clearly hurting, we’re not.

It is amazing how much people have forgotten about that conference realignment period.
As pointed out, we did offer to keep the game and the hysterics of the Big 12 schools prevented that.
The Big 12 was a leaking rusty bucket of a ship then. There was widespread speculation Texas Tech, TCU, and Baylor would be in the Mountain West as Texas was openly flirting with other conferences with no consideration for the fate of other conference schools.
Finally, we were not the first out the door. Arky saw the light early and Nebraska had also had enough.

its early. You don’t just come right out and win the conference. Can you imagine the outcry from LSU fans if that would have occurred?
Win the conference?
They are struggling to win 8 games. And, their first year was BY FAR their best.
They've only been above .500 one other year (last year) in the SEC.

Don't forget Colorado.
Frank Broyles was a genius.

A&M probably plays for the NC in 2012, and certainly would have fared better since.
Our results in the Big 12 say otherwise.
It was never a good fit for us.

A&M in the Big 12 in 2012 =
-Mike Sherman as head coach
-Jameill Showers, not Johnny Manziel at QB
-Minimum 3 losses
-Undefeated Alabama vs. Undefeated Notre Dame for the BCS title

Okay, okay, with ya there.

- change conferences
- replace Big XII competition with LSU, Auburn, bama, MSU
- drastically have to shift recruiting philosophy
None of that makes any sense. Aggy upgraded, pure and simple.

While this is funny, things are working out even better for Texas!!!

I think the experiment is playing out right now and we will know if it is a bust at the end of Jimbo's tenure. We just had the misfortune of Kevin Sumlin taking us into the conference right as he slouched into indolence and Noel Mazzone.
We have beaten every school in the conference except the Dawgs (thanks refs) and are routinely beating the less competitive squads.
The question to me is whether the big three (UGA, LSU, Bama) can maintain their edge consistently. The last five years have probably been the most dominant stretch for those three at the same time. It has been the most competitive environment in the conference in its entire history. Auburn of course is up there but has been less consistent.
I am still curious if Ed O regresses into the red bull addiction and idiocy that is deep in his DNA. Kirby Smart looks no different than R.C. Slocum. He hauls in unbelievable talent, drops random games, and emphasizes a 3 yards and a cloud of dust strategy. Saban is getting older.
Jimbo is so far recruiting really well and has assembled a great staff. Plenty of opportunity for A&M to grow within the conference.

t.u. is so scared to play A&M in the postseason that they are intentionally losing this game to go to a lower bowl.

When Arkansas left the SWC it was for the same reason. We knew that we weren't going to be part of the proposed SWC/Big 12 merger. Our long term survival was more important than any rivalry.
It’s not like your program would have folded. You’re literally a bottom feeder. Y’all are on an 18 game conference losing streak and recently had like a 17 game one not too long ago as well. You call that survival?

How do they not realize that A&M has always and will always be a shitty program that is lucky to get to 7 wins in a year.
It's the same old same old whether they are in the Big 12 or SEC. Nothing has changed.

We beat Florida in Gainesville two years ago in one of the ugliest games I have ever watched.
