Former Arkansas and SMU head coach Chad Morris has himself a new gig — in the high school ranks.

Morris has been named Allen High School’s new football coach. The Texas powerhouse went 10-1 last season under Terry Gambill, who retired earlier in March.

“I am honored to join Allen ISD and the Allen Eagles football program,” Morris said in a statement. “Allen High School is known throughout the state and nation for having a storied tradition of excellence in everything it does, and the football team is certainly included in that discussion. My roots run deep in Texas high school football, and I’m excited for the opportunity to get back to coaching young student-athletes and making an impression on their lives. As a coach, I’ll expect our students to work hard, but I want them to know that I care about their overall development as leaders both on and off the field. It’s my goal to establish a culture that can impact our student-athletes in a positive way, and I believe that will allow us to compete for championships on a consistent basis.”

Morris recently worked as Auburn’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under close friend Gus Malzahn in 2020. Prior to that, he served as the head coach at Arkansas in 2018 and 2019, and SMU from 2015 to 2017. Morris posted a 14-22 record in three seasons at SMU before landing at Arkansas, where he went 4-18 and 0-14 in SEC play in two seasons with the Razorbacks.

....

My dude went from the head coach of a major SEC program to high school coach in 2 years. That has to be a record.

I even know of a Jr High Coach in Tennessee he can call to be his DC!

Makes sense. Arkansas looked like a High School team when he was the coach.

Maybe he and his family can finally settle down and live in the same house together once again.

Just a reminder for anyone who didn't know, Chad Morris lived in this home... Alone, while his family remained in Texas for the entirety of his tenure at Arkansas.

And no, those aren't neighboring homes on the left and right, that's part of the estate. Again, he lived there alone for 2 years while his wife and kids stayed in Dallas.

If you go back to HS coaching, Allen may as well be it.

solo nor not, a head coach has got to have a place like that for recruiting, entertaining, hog knobbing, etc.

He’s such an idiot. Dude literally could have lived in a tent and saved all that money.

In a few years he’s going to wish he had. He’s done as a big time college head coach

Nope. The Flop from Opp holds that dubious distinction. Alabama’s very own Mike Dubose went from Bama to Opp High School.

Just 12 days after being fired by the University of Arkansas, former Razorback football coach Chad Morris put his Fayetteville home up for sale.
The 3-acre estate on North Horse Meadow Drive hit the market Friday (Nov. 22). The property is east of Fayetteville off of North Gulley Road and Bridgewater Lane, in the upscale neighborhood Bridgewater Estates.

Morris’ residence is the largest in the 29-lot subdivision. It includes a seven-bedroom, 11,616-square-foot main residence and one-bedroom, 1,975-square-foot guest residence.

According to Washington County property records, Morris paid Stuart and Melanie Scott $3.8 million for the property in May 2018, five months after he was named head football coach at UA.

Jana-Wrenay Elkins with Lindsey & Associates in Fayetteville has the home listed for $3.79 million ($279.52 per square foot). Elkins describes the property as “beyond breathtaking.” It includes bluestone patios, swimming pool, custom hot tub, gas fire pit, lighted sport court and infrared recessed heaters.

Elkins’ listing says a more detailed list of amenities is available upon request. Razorback helmets and other accessories do not convey with the property, according to the listing.
Morris’ tenure at Arkansas ended Nov. 10 this year, one day after a 45-19 loss to Western Kentucky. In less than two seasons, Morris was just 4-18 overall since replacing Bret Bielema, and was winless in 14 Southeastern Conference games. It is estimated that the contract buyout for Morris, who was hired away from being head coach at Southern Methodist University by then-interim athletic director Julie Cromer Peoples, is around $10 million.

This was Bert's old house. Which I think looks alot better with the gothic spires and stylings:

Apparently all these houses are in the same neighborhood.

Musselman went the opposite route and bought a closed gate gokf course home outside of Fayetteville.

I didn’t see anything in that link about his family living in Dallas while he lived in that mansion alone.

It was common knowledge, however what wasn't state above was that his Son was the starting Qback at a major TX high school which won state titles and was being recruited by multiple coaches.

His son wanted to finish his HS Career so the family stayed with him while Chadwick danced the night and seasons away in Fayettenam!

Every now and then I watch highlights from some of those games.

Its so nuts how by the second game of the season, you could clearly tell nobody on the team was trying.

Like... that's so hard to do. You have to rip an entire locker room's lifetime passion for the game out of them within a few months. It can clearly happen, but to the extent it did in the speed it did... just incredible.

I'm shocked we won 4 games with him. He has a natural talent to get players to not play hard for him.

It's true. His wife and son stayed in Texas so his son could keep playing HS football there. Chad flew there every weekend.

After the opening press conference, Chad's wife was never seen in Arkansas again

Been bant while all this went down but the most striking difference from Morris to Pittman was how they addressed the team in the first meeting.

Chad shite all over them saying "if you were doing things the right way, I wouldn't be here" Lost them right there.

Sam told them "You didn't choose me, but I chose you"

It's a world of difference to young men and what I truly believe will be the foundation of Pittman's coming success at Arkansas.

lol, I know that house, it's not to far down the road from where I live. That house is a curse and has probably been remodeled 20 times. I don't think I've ever driven by it and it not being remodeled. In fact, look at it on google maps, you can see a big trash bin out the front door from the latest remodel.

Anyway, the house is nice but I wouldn't call the neighborhood worthy of a house like that. There are far better neighborhoods in the area as the B-Ball coach as found out.

And it's true, his family never moved here.. they basically quit on Arkansas before he even started coaching. Pissed a lot of people off that he would take a private plane to go see his son play, party it up Friday night and then come back for our normal 11am game (because we sucked shite) half awake.

Worst coach of all time in the SEC, hands down nobody comes close.
