My issue is WHY have 5 Power conferences & a system that eliminates AT LEAST 1 conference from postseason just over the format for postseason?

They aren't eliminated from postseason, just eliminated from a shot at the national championship. While this sounds fine, and we here in the SEC are thinking we are going to have multiple teams in the playoffs, you might want to consider the possibility of the people making decisions pitting SEC teams against each other, thereby eliminating at least 1 every game.

Playing to make the top 12.

The SEC Championship - meaningless, the biggest SEC matchups - meaningless.

These will determine who gets the playoff buy.

Because you guys want to bore us with even more non-competitive games. Isn’t it enough we get LSU every year?

The supposed intended consequence is that, by the PAC 12, Big12, and others being able to have a spot guaranteed, the recruiting advantage of the south will be somewhat negated. The PAC 12 on more than a couple of occasions said their kids leave because they want a shot at the CFP and have to go to certain schools to have a chance.

I think it’s garbage. The reason kids leave the PAC 12 footprint is because it’s a crappy football conference coached by crappy coaches. The AAC is better than the PAC 12.

No real incentive to be in a mega-conference like the 14-team SEC.

I guess the only incentive has always been $$$.

I hate it (even if it gives our goofy arse coach a much better chance of making the CFP). Hate it, hate it, hate it.

Ah ok, wasn't aware of this. That makes it better

Not really, you're quarterfinal and/or semifinal will almost always be an SEC rematch, since the SEC teams would be staggered from 7-12 generally. Certainty conceivable that all three games would be SEC matchups, this rendering the regular season to be of little value.

The best regular season in American sport just took a huge hit. Non conference games no longer mean shite. September games are irrelevant. And six teams get a mulligan every year year.

It will no longer even be considered an accomplishment to make it to the playoffs.

Some Bama fans need to develop a bit of empathy for most of the rest of the college football fans. Maybe you’re jaded to the thrill of winning but can you imagine how fans of most other P5 teams would react to these points that you consider boring?

I hope the expansion will stir things up in CFB by giving other programs a view of the world from the big stage.

Well, I guess the fun part will be you don't have the nerves every week. You drop a couple games you're still fine. We lost to auburn, meh, whatever, we're still in. I wish we'd had this format in 2013. Bama rolls auburn in the national championship game and the kick6 is a mere footnote.

The same people saying this "fiNalLy detErMineS it 0n the fiEld!!!1!1!" will clamor for 16-24 teams when 4 conferences don't even sniff the playoffs.

Considering most years it means getting a bye or going on the road in round one that's a big lie
quote:

then maybe the top 2 seeds should get a first round bye or something to add meaning and incentive to the regular season

The meaning is finish in the top four and win your conference. Damn you're dense

12 teams is too many in my opinion.

12 is perfect. Will make teams not named Bama, Ohio State, clemson, and Notre Dame relevant

Bowl season sucks now that kids think they have nothing to play for. If more teams make the playoffs there will be better football deeper into the winter. More quality football is a win for everyone.

You can remove all the phony titles post-integration and everything before UA tolerated black people so long as they could play ball (much like the present day) and still have plenty of champyumships to list in your signature there bud.

Yet another new poster who doesn't get the joke.

How novel.
