ACC with a rough start to the year

And I don’t feel great about the streak breaking. Tell me I’m wrong. Here’s to hope and that springs eternal stuff.

Yea this has much more to do with ESPN/SEC dictating playoff expansion/network deals than it does scheduling games, but the latter could change I suppose.

Lol, someone tried to fight me at the AJ’s there because I wore an ESPN shirt (from 104.3 station in PC). Thought I was trying to be woke. It was probably Coach Crisp except not old enough.

It’s all part of the Redneck Hajj, one of the Five Pillars of Alabamadom.
Can’t say I’ve met many Texas fans, but Bama fans in real life tend to be more like what you see on the boards. Except of course those who actually went to school there who are indeed normal folks. Ain’t nothin’ worse than a pahandle gump for instance.

And no way does Texas have the side-walkers Bama does though so to say “they can back it up” means nothing when they couldn’t give a shite about the team when DuBose or Franchione were coaching.
Is Biden going to be there? ESPN gonna have to censor out all the boos

If the SEC and B1G further dwarf the ACC’s deal come 2025 there is no chance schools will sit on their hands until 2035. I think the ACC is in real trouble.

Barring a post-Saban Alabama enticing Dabo (not sure what people think of him here, but he has many Bama fans approval as an eventual successor in my experience) I think Clemson will still pull weight.

Most SEC towns aren’t really in a position to make fun of another’s women. Change the hair color to natural and the laptop to a bag of Popeye’s takeout and you’re set.
Think it has more to do with a generational coach going to a school with alumni/boosters that only care about football and with deep pockets to boot. Hell you can argue, along with ESPN, that he’s the reason the arms race began and the SEC feedback loop of being the best conference.
A well thrown show and no real consequences either since the committee gave you a mulligan in case you beat Bama the next week.

Absolutely. SEC is lapping the field.

Honest question: I know this is an SEC forum (duh) but is this generally a good thing? The middle to lower tier teams are going to likely struggle even more (though we’ll have to wait and see how NIL evolves with the mega brand the SEC has created since January 2007). More money != on-field success; otherwise Texas would have more hardware.
Oddly enough, you can thank Nick Saban for pretty much everything related to the CFB arms race of which this is just another extension.

Honest question: do you think the addition of OU and Texas is healthy for the sport as a whole? While it might earn the SEC member schools more money, that hasn’t always translated to on field success and now the middle-bottom tier have to compete with an even more loaded conference. Throw that on top of banishing other conference schools to the dark ages and the vast discrepancy that NIL has in this league over others, I don’t see how anyone else will be able to compete. Prior to Saban and Urban, it felt like every conference could compete. I know this is an SEC centric board (duh) but just wanted to hear some opinions, and if you value your conference over the sport. Thx.

Also lost Iowa’s Coach Fry within the past year or two. Believe Bob Stoops and Kirk Ferentz were on his staff.

Ohio State and Notre Dame are the only programs in the country that could go toe-to-toe with Alabama in terms of influence as members of the SEC. Texas/OU, while behemoths, just don't have "it.“

Not really. Notre Dame has a large, wealthy alumni base, but probably a more diverse background when it comes to how they donate their money. In other words while many donate to athletics/football they are more likely to care about the academics and university as a whole. Bama alum with deep pockets only care to spend on football and Donald’s 2024 campaign. OSU probably somewhere in between the two.

If large, wealthy alumni bases were the end all be all then Texas should have dominated the Big12 and Stanford should be running the Pac12.

Incorrect, he was born and raised in Milton, FL which might have more sidewalk gumps per capita than most places outside of AL. Did move to TX and was a state trooper there.
