Unfortunately for everyone outside of Tuscaloosa, Saban has no desire to retire

There’s a countdown clock for Nick Saban’s retirement across the country. There’s some thought, whether warranted or naive, that the rest of the college football world will have a better chance to win a national championship when the greatest head coach in the game steps down.
Unfortunately for everyone outside of Tuscaloosa, Saban has no desire to retire for some time. He plans to continue to lead Alabama for the foreseeable future.
When he got on the topic of retirement while speaking in front of a group of coaches last month, Saban pointed to the challenges he faces in coaching that keep him going.
“Everybody asks me when I wanna retire. Retire from what?” Saban said. “I’m going to jump into an empty abyss, aight, of what am I going to do? The very challenges that I talk about and the things in our profession that concern me – for you and me both, in your game and our game – that’s what keeps me going. That’s why I get up every day. That’s why I can’t sleep at night sometimes. So why would you quit doing that? I haven’t figured that one out yet.”
Saban, 70, appears to have perfected the craft at coaching at the collegiate level — or as close as anyone can come to it. He’s won 7 national championships, 10 SEC titles, is a 5-time SEC Coach of the Year and 2-time National Coach of the Year.
Despite all the accolades, Saban isn’t showing any interest in slowing down.

That is bad news for LSU’s most obsessed fan. Oh wait, you meant the city, not the poster. Sorry. Carry on.

If Saban continues his decline - he lost to TWO former assistants in one year - he will decide pretty fast his legacy is more important to him than continuing to coach

Someone start subtly overloading this man's diet with protein so we can at least gout him out of the conference.

Oh don't worry
We gonna make him quit
We gonna make him quit

Why should we do that? It’s way too much fun beating him. Looking forward to a lot more wins before he finally leaves with his tail tucked between his legs

Most of those that said that are gone now. Lots of coaches in the SEC have left for places outside the SEC or just quit coaching since he has been at Tuscaloosa. How about making a list of them.
Urban Meyers for starters

Saban is an average coach anyway but also Alabama is gonna decline to 7-5 every year after he leaves

After the 2026 season is the earliest he would possibly retire. My money is on the 2029 season as his last, providing good health. He'd still be younger than Bowden and Paterno by a few years even then.

Eventually a few of you oatmeal brains will be right, because although he does seem like a cyborg, he is most likely a standard biological human.

Allow me.

53 coaches have come and gone at 13 SEC schools since January 3, 2007. This number does not include interim coaches which probably adds another half a dozen or so to that total.

Listen, I don't want to root for the man to die but he's not giving me a lot of options.

Saban is a workaholic driven by his need to be dominant to hide his little man syndrome insecurities.
Things like leisure and family aren’t important to him. He tries to fill a void with more winning and it all rings empty and hollow. I pity his sad soul
