Lane Johnson transferred to OU from obscure Kilgore College (JC) as a QB after this freshman year. He played QB and TE at Kilgore.
After his redshirt year at OU, he played TE and DE and was eventually moved to OT his Jr year. He went from all that to the #4 overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft as an OT, became a 1st team All Pro (2017), a 2nd team All Pro (2021), 3x Pro Bowl, a Super Bowl Champion, and one of the highest paid OT in the NFL.

Not really a beast but most people thought Robert Lester from Foley was just recruited as a package deal to go with Julio, but imo he was a very good safety. Very smart football player as well.

Brandon Burlsworth was a walk on.
2 time All-SEC and an All-American.
Grant Morgan...1 star walk-on...just won the trophy named after Burlsworth.

Watched the movie about him with the oldest boy, it was great. I love that story.
This thread is A+ material in general.

Stars are basically grading perceived potential, It reminds me of all the guys I knew with 30s or higher on their ACTs, which was like top 3% of college bound people in my day, who failed out of college due to lack of effort

I can't believe it took 3 1/2 pages before a Georgia fan posted Stetson Bennett IV. From walk-on to NC winner.

Eh. We always knew Stetson was great.
He was baker mayfield on our 2017 scout team (and the defense said he was better than baker).

I mean, Dak is the obvious one for State. But I’m gonna go Darius Slay. Two star out of HS and turned into a pro bowler

Damn good choice. I almost forgot about Lester.

Debo Jones, Russell Gage, Duke Riley, Foster Moreau, Lloyd Cushenberry, Justin Jefferson, and Tyrann Mathieu were all some of the very last people in their recruiting class. All have gone on to be NFL starters.

That’s a truly amazing stat. And he hasn’t had the best QB’s either in those 8 seasons
