I hope the SEC doesn't expand, it would totally ruin the conference I love.

I don't see much wrong with adding North Carolina.

Florida State and and Clemson are not AAU, although Florida State has worked hard to get there and is really close apparently.

I don’t understand the AAU fascination. It’s heavily weighted against land grant schools and towards schools with a medical school. Nebraska got thrown out because their medical school wasn’t in Lincoln.

Where do people get these silly ideas that those schools are good or wanted for the P2? Clemson for instance would not be as valuable a brand once they started losing 4 to 6 games a season instead of the 0-2 they lose in the ACC

Sankey better not bring any of these lightweights into the conference.

I can believe the B1G wants UNC. But the rest of them? Clemson and FSU would be the poorest schools in the B1G by a mile - they do not want them. Not culture fits for them, likely would not increase their per school payouts much, and would be an additional inconvenient (and costly) location for the rest of their athletic departments

Clemson, Miami and FSU are where they should be. Little league conference for little league programs

Clemson

Clemson is a hard no. I've always said, they're one bad coach away from being a boat anchor.

Florida State doesn't move the needle either. Maybe 10 years ago, but not now with expanded members. You hold your nose, if you take them.

UNC and VA are 1a and 1b, due to a number of reasons.

Fsu clemson and Ohio state have easily been the biggest roadblock to the sec winning a football natty since the 4 team playoff started. As much as ppl don’t want to hear it theyre easily ahead of half the sec in pecking order.

Because AAU schools get far more research grants from the government, which makes sports revenue pale in comparison

Having 18 AAU schools helps them get more of those grants and share the load between them

Clemson has been good for about a decade and a half and are already falling off their peak. Clemson has not been a playoff threat since 2020

FSU has had like 2 good seasons since they won in 2013. FSU was never a roadblock in the 4 team era.

Miami is arse and has been for 2 decades. They are not a roadblock to anyone. Miami this past season was decent, they likely win 8 games in the SEC instead of 10 though

These programs are all jokes overall. Clemson was the best team in the ACC and they went 0-3 against SEC programs…

I thought that was pretty well known. They are sinking a lot of money into football to try to gain favor with another conference to jump ship. That's why they hired him.

They’re still better ratings and performance wise to the bottom half of the sec

Fsu is new to the game compared to their peers and already accomplished more than most in that time.
Clemson has siaa and southern conference titles good runs under heisman Howard ford and Dabo. Football didn’t start in the nineties

The hardest part for FSU and clemson is TV markets given the SEC already has schools from those states, but I’m not sure how important that is these days. Obviously still very important, but I don’t believe it’s the dealbreaker it used to be.

North Carolina would add a “new” market to the mix, but in a different sport. I see the pros and cons but I think UNC is out kicking their coverage and either of the aforementioned teams would have better chances than them.

Jordan brand being the X factor, in my ignorant opinion.

It's already been agreed upon that the SW division would be referred to as the Western fricks.

Clemson has been better than lsu since 2020, are tracking to better than lsu this upcoming year, and I am assuming you meant they aren’t a natty threat bc they literally were just in the playoffs

I’ve constantly maintained the sec’s best course of action is to keep the acc as is. I just don’t think it would be good for the sec if they joined the big

If the big ten leaves the south alone the sec would be fools to expand.

AAU discounts agricultural research grants as not as important for some reason. There are several high research universities that are not in the AAU, including schools that do more research than AAU schools. Having a Medical School automatically gets you more dollars.

Imagine going back to 2000 and reading

“MSN just broke a story and their lead source is USF superfan RandyR358 with 1,200 followers…and that’s good enough for them to break a story on UNC” LOL

I'm aware of that. But 13 of the top 38 are big ten. I included john Hopkins cuz they are tied to the big ten via lacrosse,.and are part of the AAU network of the conference
