Didn’t Derrick Thomas have 52 sacks in his career and 27 in a season?
Why does the internet say Will Anderson holds the SEC record for both?
Sacks weren't "officially" tracked as a stat at the time in the NCAA.

Nov. 1, 1969, Reaves threw 66 passes (at the time, the most by a QB in SEC history and still second-best on the league's all-time list), and nine were intercepted by Auburn in the No. 17 Tigers' 38-12 victory over the No. 7 Gators, who suffered their only loss of the season. No other player in SEC history has thrown more than six interceptions in a game, and Reaves also holds the NCAA FBS single-game record. Auburn finished the 1969 season with 34 interceptions, which was the SEC single-season record at the time.”

The 10 team SEC was odd in some ways.
Teams played 6 or 7 SEC games.
Some teams rarely played before expansion in 1992.
Auburn-LSU was a rare scheduled game prior to 1992.
Auburn has probably still played Florida more than we’ve played Alabama.
I think some teams played as few as 5 SEC games after Tulane and GT left the conference.
The 16 team league is at least trying to have everyone play each other at some minimum frequency.

1969 Texas Longhorns
Last all white team to win football national championship.
Julius Whittier was first black to join the team in 1970.

I question the Georgia Tech claim...we all should. Most teams could easily win by 200 if it was against people off the street
the game and score actaully ahppened obviously..but you're correct that it could easily be replicated if the exact circumstances were recreated.
Tech was *gasp* a legit good program at the time and as mentioend they were so salty about getting beat in baseball by cumberland (that didn't have a football team) that this was their method of revenge. Imagine if prime saban-era bama played against a team of dudes they rounded up from the quad, and it actually counted as a real game. Bama would score every sgnle play, and would likely cause a turnover almost every play on defense. Every punt or KO would likely be retuend for a TD. They could have scored pretty much any time the ball touched their hands. That's exactly what happened with that tech game.

it absolutley BLOWS MY MIND that bowl game stats weren't included in a player's stat history unitl this century. I have no idea why the NCAA hasn't devoted an army of interns to go back and retroactively update all players (or at the very least, the notable ones on offense) career stats.

legit accomplishments
You have to give the Bumbles their due, 4 Natty's with 4 different eras and 4 different coaches over a century.
That said ...
C6H0 is perhaps the greatest upset in the history of college football
Iron Men of Sewanee would be a ridiculously impossible feat for any SEC team to accomplish today, and that is why it should be #1 on any list like this and never forgotten.

I think even the aggy on this board would admit that the 2003 77-0 game versus Oklahoma could have broken the Cumberland record if OU wanted to do it.

Yeah I was there and that game was 77-0 in the 3rd qtr. Stoops told the refs to let the clock run the whole 4th qtr and OU didn't throw a pass.

Holy crap...that sounds like something a bitter ex would come up with...insane.

yeah, it was worse than the score indicated.
Nobody better bring up Texas vs. UCLA, AKA route 66.

Neither GA Tech nor Oklahoma were in the conference when those records were set.
They don't count.
Oh, BTW, to hell with Tech.

Nine pics on a game is pure comedy. Older Gators must still have ptsd when their qb’s back up to pass.

58 point difference in a national title game.
No one will do it again.

I am athletic, but they would smoke my arse easily without question. Pretty sure offensive and defensive lineman use my max deadlift or squat for their warm-up and could easily do it 12+ times.
Weird that people are downvoting you for being humble & correct lol.
I remember the "real athlete" threads on TRant where people talked about getting hit by future NCAA & NFL players, going against future MLB pitchers etc. People don't realize that even a bad D-I athlete is barely the same species as a normal college kid.
At least the Cumberland kids were probably in shape, today's kids are fat, soft, & glued to their screens

Vanderbilt recorded 25 consecutive losing football seasons from 1983-2007 -
Auburn currently has the most consecutive losing football seasons with 5 - so that Vanderbilt record is not in jeopardy just yet -

4th and 25, not really a record
At least our QB didn't set the ball on the ground for the other team. Nice of him to do that.

South Carolina Gamecocks' win streak in the baseball post season and College World Series from 2010-2012. (21 post season, 11 CWS over 3 seasons breaking Miami's record of 15 and 7 set in the 80s,)

With the Game Four win over No. 1 seed Florida, the No. 8 seed South Carolina Gamecocks extend their NCAA record-setting postseason win streak to 21 consecutive games and their College World Series record-setting consecutive win streak to 11. (Both streaks came to an end in game Eight, the 2012 CWS Championship Series vs Arizona. )

Over nearly 145 years of professional baseball, no player was tougher to strike out than Hall of Fame shortstop Joe Sewell. In 7,132 career at-bats, Sewell heard the umpire say “Strike three” just 114 times. That's one strikeout for every 63 at-bats, or once every 17 games
