No it's not a recommendation...it's an actual complaint/warrant. And the law enforcement officer doesn't have to go before the prosecutor to make this happen.

Yes but at the end of the day a charge filed by the police is a recommendation. Yes it's a charge but the DA doesn't have to act on it and the DA files charges with the court, unless it's something minor. That's why I call it a recommendation.

Traffic court is a different story.

Not gonna lie, it's kind of wild that you actually think police officers who make $45k a year and have a GED are out filing capital murder charges against people.

A metric ton of cops outside of big cities aren't making close to that. In many places they don't even get insurance and have zero training.

You're mistaken. This isn't taking place in Louisiana.
There's absolutely no fricking difference between Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi in the hierarchy of shithole States.

All three are equally loaded down with an ignorant and uneducated population.

I mean sure, if you want to keep playing pretend you can do that.

LEOs aren't in charge of making this type of charge. They don't bring nuance charges in cases like this. The DA is 100 percent a pussy and at fault here. This should've been kicked to a grand jury.

ETA: On the flip side UA is 100 percent self-serving cowards for doing nothing.

The play was to send it to a grand jury, do a lousy job presenting the state's case and guaranteeing there isn't an indictment and going forward with the story that "we let the people decide and they have spoken". It wouldn't be the first time....

Officers don't sign warrants, judges do.

Huh? So the police didn't arrest and charge Darius Miles with a crime that morning?

Police do not charge people.
Police do arrest people.

No way that would ever happen!
