they were only hosed by their QB who turned the ball over multiple times in the last few minutes with the game on the line

UK has only themselves to blame for that loss.

2 missed PATS, missed FG under 40 yards, 2 red zone fumbles and a turnover on downs in Ole Miss territory after a big kick return, go ahead TD called back for illegal motion.

When you frick yourself over that badly you can't bitch about one call.

Has it been called targeting in other games with other refs? Sure.

But we pissed away about a gajillion points between special teams and other mishaps that would’ve won the game if we would have executed.

It is what it is.

There was a face mask on 3rd down on the second to last drive that would have ended the game. It evened out and got them the ball back.

If UK has not missed the field goal and two extra points, they would have been ahead 24-22 on that last drive. OM would then have had to drive down for a winning field goal after that last fumble recovery.

Lots of what-ifs in this game. I thought the teams were evenly matched and that OM made fewer mistakes.

Low man wins. Good play D !! Don’t care if it was dirty or not. QB wasn’t hurt and forced a huge TO.

They called targeting after the fact on the hit that knocked Banks out of the game (and sent him to the hospital) on the opening kickoff last week vs Auburn.

On who? They look identical, QB lowered his crown to make contact.

If we were playing bama would this had been called yes, but they handled it the way it should be!

How many UK players just watching this one play? Block somebody!

Per the targeting rule, the QB is not defenseless in that situation.

Absolutely not targeting, targeting is “taking aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball."
Key word here is aim. Watching the play frame by frame, the defender squares up, and sets his hips while the QB is still upright aiming for his mid-section, not his fault the QB lowered his head and helmet to helmet contact was made.

Watching the Bama/Texas game this year gave me a new found respect for the quality of SEC officiating.

Even if they call the penalty here, UK has to finish the drive. They had only had one decent drive in the game up to this point.

This game was about 4 Barion Brown plays away from being a complete blowout. Brown played out of his mind to keep Kentucky in it. If Ole Miss had their starting center, it wouldn't have been a close game.

Ole Miss forced most of UK's mistakes.

I’ve never honestly seen targeting called on a ball carrier in years
