True, but I feel this feeling of hopelessness and sadness when driving through Baton Rouge. I don't feel that when driving through Columbia.

That clearly depends on which way you go. Highland road moving east from the University is very nice. In the fall, I'd suggest anyone visiting BR for a game who's driving west on I-10 to get off at Highland and drive it to the University.

They don't want to say that Williams-Brice is part of the USC "campus" when we try to say it's not off-campus, but when rankings like this pop up, all of a sudden they say, "the area surrounding Williams-Brice is the USC campusOMG!!!"......

The University of South Carolina campus proper is a very nice campus....

Touché

It doesn't appear that way. Anyway, I think it's a nice city. I've never been to SC's campus, but I've heard it's very nice.

When I was there approx. 6 years ago, I drove from Charleston to Columbia. I considered it to be like driving from New Orleans to BR.

All of the SEC campuses I've been on were nice except for Texas A&M.

There are a lot of similarities there - state capital, similar size, similar inland distance from famous, old city.

Both have great campuses that are generally underrated in "prettiest campuses" discussions.

I too think UofSC's campus is underrated. It's very nice and has improved tremendously over the years. The Five Points area is great for food, drinking, etc.

Speaking of improvement of a college campus, hands down, the campus that has improved the most in my lifetime is Ga Tech. It used to be somewhat of a dump located in a sketchy area of Atlanta. The improvement of Midtown ATL, combined with the total transformation of the campus, gives Ga Tech a unique campus and an oasis in the middle of the City. It's a huge asset to ATL and the State.

Agree - I mean Atlantic Station used to just be an old industrial brownfield. West Midtown was a crime ridden hellhole.

Now Atlantic Station exists, West Midtown is one of the fastest growing, most eclectic parts of the city and Tech is basically surrounded by all of it and the commercial part of Midtown.

Yep - Atlanta has always been known for her large swaths of dense, urban Soviet style architecture.

I always said the best thing parts of Atlanta has going for it is the ability to disguise some of the architecture with trees and bushes.

Tennessee and Vanderbilt had hideous campuses until both got a major facelift in the past 10 years. Without the renovations, UT would be the worst in the SEC

MSST is the worst

I have been to UT. It is a nice but not the nicest in the SEC.

State has the nicest, best landscaped campus in the SEC.

I feel kind of bad now that a State fan replied to me off the bat. State is by no means a bad looking campus, just not that pretty IMO

How recently was your visit to UT? A lot of our campus is pretty hideous. It was worse several years ago.

Envy much? Athens is one of the prettiest towns in Georgia, and we have lots of very pretty ones. Either you've never been to Athens, or you're butt hurt over Auburn being so ugly. You could call Auburn a hole in the ground, but it's so flat and destitute that there's no hole.
