Knoxville always seems like a rust belt town to me.

It pretty much is. Its history is rooted in heavy industry. Knoxville proper was economically depressed until the 1980s. Since then, the metro has grown steadily, and downtown has become vibrant.

Outside of the suburbs, most of the areas surrounding Knoxville are pretty run down. Lots of poverty and drug use. It's a lot like southern GA.

You just threw that garbage out there but have never been to MSU campus. We are a small town, yes, but as far as campus goes, that was the most idiotic post ever. Our campus is freaking beautiful, it’s the one thing we have going for us assclown.

A&M is worst. UGA is most overrated. Athens is nice but the campus itself is meh.

I think the town of Athens, the downtown area, is awesome. But I don't think that the UGA campus itself is any great shakes. The North campus is pretty, but there are many parts of that campus that are downright ugly.

ETA: And Knoxville… I always want it to be prettier than I find it to be when I visit there. The setting is gorgeous, on the river, the cliffs etc. But the campus is not particularly aesthetically pleasing. Not much in the way of architecture there that I like.

Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, would be my 4 most beautiful campuses in the conference just based on aesthetics

State fans...just quit it. I don’t think your campus looks like Chernobyl but the nonsense that it compares to Ole Miss is ludicrous. Ole Miss has won numerous awards as most beautiful campus in America and the head landscaper has won numerous awards. MSU has an architectural school yet the buildings throughout the campus clash in styles very badly. You still have the boomerang buildings that look like something from the projects. The newest dorms are an improvement but that area just north of the drill field needs improvement.

yeah your campus really isn't much different. It has its ugly spots to and the effing hills man. wtf. I remember paying the RA off in pizza to let me stay late in the girls dorm which was embarrassingly disgusting. You guys set the bar high but never live in reality.

in fact your entire dormatory row looks like the projects.

Most of the boomerang dorms are gone now I believe. The new dorms in the North village, I think thats what its called, have replaced them. And the new building behind the old YMCA/post office is really nice.

That's about all it's doing...it was a mistake IMO.The area woulda perfect for the Braves stadium or it woulda been better off had it grown organically...like West Midtown.

Both Mississippi schools are dumps, and yes I’ve visited both. Felt like I was on a high school campus. Absolute dumps.

You’ll not find a more beautiful campus than in Fayetteville.

Anyone who says MSU's campus isn't beautiful has either never been there, or is a troll. Or maybe just an idiot. Perhaps even all three.

Ole Miss has won numerous awards from magazines in which they've given money to get those "awards".

The campus is nice, but it's very congested and mostly unremarkable.

You should visit Starkville sometime. The boomerang dorms have been gone for 10 years.

Easy to say now in hindsight, but in 1997 it was an all around disaster zone where the barely operational mill existed because it was too expensive to tear down.

The only negative at this point with it, IMHO, is that it would have been a perfect spot for the Braves. But so would Centennial Park and some other developed areas of the last 20 years

The stuff built in the 60s and 70s (which is basically the stuff S and E of Sanford) is not pretty. However, anything else is really nice. North Campus has that classic college feel, and the new stuff near Stegeman and Ramsey Center fits. They have really done a great job with anything new W of Lumpkin which includes the new Business School, new Bolton dining hall, Russell Library which was actually done as part of an overall master Campus plan.
