I think it’s Alabama, Ohio State, then a three way tie for third with LSU, Georgia, and Texas.

It would be interesting to know what criteria they used to make that list.

I’d put Ohio state over Georgia, they’ve had 3 straight coaches who won natties there while Georgia has been elite under Kirby and very good under Richt but also had some low points that Ohio state doesn’t ever seem to have

OSU is historically a better program than UGA but I suspect if you missed the list up and drew 'em out of a hat the outcome would be pretty damn close to the best coaching gigs....any of them are a good place to be the HBC....

USC is a blue blood, either the #1 or #2 program for west coast kids and it looks like they finally started to use all that LA money for NIL after the 26 class so that should help them fend off Oregon

FSU at #10 is high, but it’s not like it’s a shite job. The coach hasn’t been fired yet because he gets paid so much that it’s too costly to do so…. Sounds like a good job to me

Congrats. I see you being humble.

This is probably weighted towards salary and Power 4 conference affiliation. But the fan expectations, media and boosters, etc bullshite adds a different element.

Aside from salary, top football jobs would be places where you can operate things your way. Matt Campbell could’ve stayed at Iowa State forever…

You’re forgetting to factor in buyouts, brother…

No Michigan, but Texas A&M is there?

Fell off the list because the next coach won’t be able to have a side piece. They’ll be looking for that this time.

Ask Tom Herman which is better job, Texas or LSU? He got to watch Ed Orgeron win a Natty.

Hate to say it but I would put Ohio State at number one.

Notre Dame is a weird one too. I think they are top 10 but more towards the 8-10 range. For all of their strengths, they’ve got certain weaknesses to counterbalance them out.

Bama > Dame. No way Dame should be over Bama.

Every single school reports their spending differently, especially on the EADA reporting which is where this data comes from. Should be pretty obvious given the massive gaps between some of these schools. Texas has the largest athletic budget in the country, Bama is not spending $50M more a year than Texas on football.

UF is also one of the biggest spenders in college athletics (and makes all spending publicly available online in case you want to check it out). Annual budgets well over $200M a year. Can assure you far more than 25% of that budget is spent towards football.
