The Hester ranking is egregious to say the least, but does no one else honestly have a problem with this?
quote:
you've got to give Henry credit for his 2,000 yard season plus natty plus Heisman. He was an unstoppable force.
He was five carries shy of 400 and played in 15 games. That 2000-yard season isn't quite the monumental achievement when such numbers are taken into consideration.
He had 95 more carries than Fournette in 2015, yet had less than 300 yards more for his season total (despite playing in 3 extra games). Hell, Fournette averaged nearly a full yard more per carry.
The McFadden statistical comparison is much more applicable to Henry (their YPC were identical). However, McFadden had the luxury of playing behind FOUR All-SEC linemen.
Henry received blocking from two First-Team All-SEC selection linemen, and arguably the best blocking tight end in the SEC (OJ Howard).
Meanwhile, Fournette ran behind First-Team All-SEC lineman Vadal Alexander and Second-Team member Ethan Pocic.
When you account for the lack of offensive creativity on the part of LSU's incompetent staff, Fournette's achievements seem even more impressive.
Todd Gurley is the only back in this recent era whose numbers stack up to Fournette. No other back with 500+ career carries has a greater YPC than Fournette (6.2 vs Gurely's 6.4). If not for the nagging injuries, it is very likely that Gurley would be regarded as one of the five greatest backs in conference history. His recent success in the NFL only affirms his sheer talent.

I guess those other guys never played against shitty SEC teams.

Leonard Fournette vs Top 25 P5 Rush Defenses (#1 Alabama, #11 Ole Miss, #15 Florida, #22 Arkansas)
4 games
102.5 YPG
4.36 YPC
4 TDs (1.0 TD/G)
Derek Henry vs Top 25 P5 Rush Defenses (#4 Wisconsin, #11 Ole Miss, #15 Florida, #20 Michigan State, #22 Arkansas, #25 Clemson)
6 games
131.8 YPG
4.85 YPC
11 TDs (1.8 TD/G)
BUT BUT BUT LF7 PLAYED BAMA AND HENRY DIDN'T!
Leonard Fournette vs Top 25 P5 Defenses MINUS Alabama (#11 Ole Miss, #15 Florida, #22 Arkansas)
3 games
126.3 YPG
5.05 YPC
3 TDs (1.0 TD/G)
So, again, this sort of nonsense about Henry's entire season basically being built on volume is laughable. Against good teams Henry was just as good if not better than Fournette, and they are still basically even when you exclude the Alabama game from Fournette's stats.

A lot of Henry's long runs and yardage was late in game when the other teams defense had been on the field the entire game due to bamas D forcing so many three and outs and the opposing D was flat out gassed.
One example was the last offensive play by bama in the 2015 iron bowl.

Because OP said this:

vs Wisconsin
37 yard TD run, 5:54 1st Qtr
56 yard TD run, 11:42 3rd Qtr
vs Georgia
30 yard TD run, 8:26 2nd Qtr
vs Texas A&M
55 yard TD run, 5:26 1st Qtr
24 yard run, 0:25 1st Qtr
vs LSU
40 yard run, 9:30 2nd Qtr
vs Auburn
30 yard run, 13:05 1st Qtr
vs Clemson
50 yard TD run, 7:55 1st Qtr
But yea, on top of all the early long runs, he also put the nail in people's coffins late when they were tired and worn out. He stepped on their throats. While he broke a few big ones, he was much better at just getting chunks of 5,7,6,8 and icing games away (Mississippi State, Auburn, Michigan State) in addition to breaking huge runs in other games early on.
He was awesome. Great back and a great competitor.

And then this?!

List is shite. Would take Ronnie Brown, Tre Mason, Ben Tate, or Rudy Johnson over any of those guys.

No Chubb?? Automatically invalidates your entire list.
Posted on 7/10/18 at 2:09 pm to DrewDawg13
Chubb was only the 3rd best RB on his team last year. Michel and Swift were clearly faster and more agile

First off, lol. Second what does this have to do with the ranking?? Literally anyone with a brain would put Chubb on that list.

Chubb and Michel were both better than Hester. Not sure he'd make the top 50 backs since the turn of the century.

Against 2 of the shittest Auburn defenses I have ever witnessed. Congrats

Henry is far more deserving than a guy like Eric Couch.

Yeah but Henry literally carried Bama's offense while Coker developed as a qb. The reason he got so many carries is because he was the only real weapon Bama had at the beginning of the year. LF is great, but let's be honest here. Both of their teams struggled through the air and when it came time to carry the team on his back, LF choked and Henry didn't. This is why Henry won the Heisman and LF didn't. This is also why Henry should be ahead of LF.(though Dmac should be number one, and I think the op knew this, but didn't want to seem like a homer)
