Yea,I get that

These selections were based on a town's relationship to its college program, passion in terms of fan support, traditions, culture and entertainment options on football weekends.

This just reaffirms what I posted.

If it was about bars/dining/shopping, Georgia Tech would be on the list. USC/UCLA would also be on the list.

The Ten Best College Football Towns.

Ya think???????

That's why he stated COLLEGE FOOTBALL TOWNS AND NOT COLLEGE TOWNS and I made the distinction.

quote:

This list is about what they perceive is the best places to go watch a college football game

That's not what was stated by the AUTHOR of the study.

quote:

These selections were based on a town's relationship to its college program, passion in terms of fan support, traditions, culture and entertainment options on football weekends

Did you get that last part?Do I need to repeat it?

Did you read it?Still can't find the part about "best places to watch a football game"...where exactly did you get that?

Again, why isn't Georgia Tech, USC, UCLA on the list? Nobody can compete with that. Unless that isn't what this list is about, at all.

pssssttttt.........This list is about exactly what I said. The game day experience (tailgating). The atmosphere and the stadium experience. Nothing more, nothing less.

College Station is a desolate wasteland. Not sure how it even cracks the top 20

College Station is the best College Football Town in the SEC West and in the entire United States west of the Mississippi.

WHAT??????So dining and going to bars arent "entertainment options"????

quote:

This list is about what they perceive is the best places to go watch a college football game

Where exactly is this stated in the criteria? Here ya go
again

Did you see the word weekends ?

Pretty clear, don't ya think? C'mon dude, you got nailed
and now you're trying to squirm out of it with this silly GT,USC,UCLA thing, BTW read what the author said about colleges in big city settings.

No. I am simply bringing up the obvious to show you that you are trying to put more into the equation than is there. The "entertainment" is the game and the things surrounding the game itself. It has nothing to do with 5* dining or how late bars stay open.

To make it elementary for you.................this list is about where they perceive is the ten best places to go watch a college football game.

ETA Hell, USC/UCLA have more to do, outside of the game, than you could do in months........then play in the The Coliseum, to boot. Whether it's the best stadium to watch a game in is irrelevant. It is as iconic a stadium as there is in the country.

Do I need to state the criteria again? You've yet to answer my question about YOUR perception of the study.
Do I need to quote the criteria again?Once again here ya go.

For the 3rd time

quote:

These selections were based on a town's relationship to its college program, passion in terms of fan support, traditions, culture and entertainment options on football weekends

Athens has ALL these on a CFB weekend.I'm not trying to put anything more into the equation at all and not saying it JUST bars and dining. Here are your exact words

quote:

It has nothing to do with bars. It has nothing to do with dining.

[quote]This list is about what they perceive is the best places to go watch a college football game.

Did you not say this?

C'mon, just admit your wrong and move on.You'll feel better about yourself.

Nobody is saying they don't.

I have seen your fanbase mention about what time bars close in some college town so you can feel superior to other schools.

I have stated from my first post that it is about the game of college football and the things that surround the game itself. It's not about 5* dining or what time bars close. IF you take time to examine the list, and not try and discredit schools who are on there, you will see exactly what I have been saying

What study is this you keep going on about? I don't see a single link from you, if you're referring to the BR "article" as a study then you aren't too informed on BR, it's basically a blog that hosts randos. It's garbage.

Don't say shite LSU Pump Lump Nut Butter Cheerleader MA's.

The S-Hole that BR has evolved into is NOT a "College Town."

It's a big city that has a large College (And a small one) located within the city limits.

Straight from the article.

No, they wouldn't. The article says large metro cities are excluded.

It sounds like you aren't the one that can read.

Oh, I can read.......

quote:

The link between a football-crazy campus and the town it's located in runs deep. College football games are usually these cities' biggest events year in and year out, with the entire area shutting down on Saturdays when the home team is in town. Few sports experiences on the planet can compare.

Use some common sense.

You showed your ignorance from your very first post.

quote:

Judging by number 10, there are s lot of shitty college towns out there. That or someone at bleacher report hasn't been to very many college towns.

Auburn is as fine a place to catch a college football game as there is in the SEC............which means it's as fine a place as any in the nation.

quote:

I mean, Columbia is a better college football town than Auburn. Just because you throw toilet paper on your trees, you think you belong on the list?

Also, that list doesn't even include Baton Rouge. It just screams the creator hasn't been to many college towns.

another one of your gems

Clemson is one of the few examples of a pure college town, in the Power 5 conferences.

If we are ranking the top 10 college towns in general then Auburn is probably in the top 2 or 3.

If we are ranking the top College FOOTBALL towns based on tailgating and overall experience then AU again would be in top 10.

If we are adding in bars, dining, and nightlife to the equation then AU falls out.

I have lived in AU and went to AU. It's laid back and cozy and a great place to live. If you are looking for parties and bars there are 100 better options.
