Saban realizes what most SEC homers don't.
The South is poor relative to the rest of the US. If the Stanfords, Notre Dames and Boston Colleges of the football world ever decide to buy-up the football talent, the Alabamas are fricked.

Anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together new this was going to happen. NFL 2.0. I have historically loved college ball and hated the NFL.

I respect saban and think he's the greatest coach in college football history....but this screams of fear that his grip is slipping away.

Coach Saban is the highest-profile coach in college football land. And unless you've been living under a rock has been the spokesman for the product for over a decade. He has warned, encouraged, and prophesied about the future in many a discourse. Frankly, the NIL is a mess. No rules, no structure, and only greasy boosters trying to outbid the other. It's simply not sustainable and coach Saban knows it.
The rant laments the end of college football as they know it and then weeps bitterly, thread after thread, about the damage NIL and the magic portal, are doing to their favorite sport.
When their champion has the courage to speak up once again on their behalf they verbally assault him for his effort to bring a sense of meaning to absolute chaos. You folks are unworthy.
