And the only people who care are the Auburn versions of Harvey. People like this writer (who seems to be upset that his most hated coach was hired at his rival's school) and the Updykes of the world (on both sides) ruin college sports.

No, the specific bylaw is an athlete cannot permit the use of their name for commercial profit. That includes autographs and pictures. I remember that from the first go round. Bamas defense is none of the players have any idea the stuff will be used to promote ole toms business or sold at a profit by a commercial enterprise.

That was the issue last time, this is a new issue that surfaced. I think he had some game worn gloves signed by A Cooper on sale for $1200. I just assumed that was a joke.

I imagine some people dont like it that Bama players are most likely being paid for signing stuff. Still.

Lot of people didn't like it when it looksd like jff was.

There's no doubt that the Kiffin hire has sent him into orbit.

As for what is illegal bout current players signing autographs on jersies for sale: I am sure you think Manzel was not selling his autographs, too, right? These guys just walked in, signed some jersies, knowing they would be put on sale...just because ol'Tom is a nice guy. Right !

I never saw anything signed by JFF, saying he wore it during a game.

It is an ncaa violation for a player to allow the use of their likeness, including signed stuff, to promote any establishment. As advertising, for profit and the like. Only the ncaa is allowed to do so.

The players cannot do anything to stop him and aren't promoting his business. I could get a bunch of signed stuff at A day or fan day , buy it from other fans, etc. and then resale them in my store or give them away as promotional gifts etc, that doesn't mean the player is actively promoting my businesses.

This is easy to understand, Fans come to fan day or ADay to get items signed, Tom buys signed stuff from fans or pays them to go get them items signed and then resales them at his stores. That is not a violation, the players are not promoting his businesses and they can't stop him from resaling their signed memorabilia.

It's funny watching all you junior NCAA investigators foam at the mouth over this when nothing will happen nor is any rule being broke.

I don't believe anything will happen, but it's hard to deny all of this stuff with this guy isn't sketchy as hell. After all of the stuff before, now he's selling current player's signatures on his website?

Want is funny is you buying that load of shite he is selling.

I am telling you right now, the signed stuff did not come from fans at fan day.

As I said, there are time stamped photos of players signing stuff in his store well before they declared.

Trent Richardson is one that did it before his last season even. And it is a violation and was the first time. Bamas defense is the players did not know it would be sold even though some signed in his store, while still playing for bama.

Anyway, yall have fun with it and spin away. I gots to go.

I still don't understand why it's a violation for players to be signing autographs even if it's in the guy's store. It obviously becomes a much more serious issue if it is proven that the players received stuff for signing the autographs.
