Not that anyone cares because this thread is obviously just a huge flame fest, but if you ever played football and were on the punt return unit then you would know the technique.

LSU practices it all the time, actually call it the "oh shite" move, when you have to block a guy who has a step on you and don't want a block in the back. taught to swing the arm with a closed fist to the center of his chest to gain some leverage without holding (closed fist) and without blocking in the back.

I was in the stadium so I still haven't seen the replay, but from reading about the play he tried this but hit him in the neck. We teach the technique, but you are supposed to hit his chest plate, not his neck.

I'm pretty sure the only thing that 80% of this entire thread's particpants have played is with their little pencil dicks.

These drill occur before the "kicking a man while he is down" technique drill which is very important as you do not want to injure a toe.

Good. STFU about him. The kid is clearly sorry. He was out of position because Dre is both tall and fast. If you've ever had to block or tackle someone considerably taller than you it's awkward. I was pissed after the play too but his reasoning and apology puts things into perspective. IMO TM7 grows up next year, becomes a team player and he will be Bamas problem as well as any other team we face

NO.

Jefferson wasn't in flip-flops and didn't injure his toe like McFadden.

You're a fn idiot. TM got beat so all he could do was clothesline DK from behind. Dude talks shite every week before a game. Then taunts and talks shite every game. The play was fn dirty and his apology means squat.

no its totally justifiable because TM7 was just giving 110% and if youre doing that then there are no cheap shots in football. pussification of football continues

BTW: Why is he apologizing if he only "held"...

Because sometimes a minor infraction can cause more serious consequences. Doesn't mean the consequences were intended. He shouldn't have grabbed the guy, but that's all he did. The injury was a result of the way Kirkpatrick hit the ground. I'm sure if the ground could apologize for its role in the injury, it would do so.

he hooked his shoulder pad. its not TM's fault Dre is too dumb to figure out how to put your hands out before landing on the ground

That's a good way to break an arm/wrist. Dre fell about as well as he could have. When you're moving backward that fast, there's really not much you can do. He also didn't have a lot of time to react, as he probably wasn't expecting Mathieu to spin him around. Mathieu shouldn't have done it, but it wasn't a vicious assault as some appear to believe.

im sure they practice on how to disrupt the gunner without clipping or block in the back when they are getting beat down the field. he's probably not supposed to grab the jersey or he is supposed to grab it and try and get away with it. either way, i really doubt he was trying to intentionally injure dre. ive yet to see tm7 play dirty, or any of lsu players this year play dirty for that matter.

*disclaimer...ive never played a down or coached organized football, but i did stay at a holiday inn express

I guess he could have caused a vertebral artery dissection, brain stem stroke, locked-in state, lots of badness. Looked pretty intentional to me. Maybe the trainer can give us her take.
