I think very few people dislike Tim Tebow as a person, but a lot of people got sick of hearing about him when he was in CFB/NFL around a decade ago because the media and a rabid segment of fanboys were acting as though he was the first Christian to ever play football. The people who are somehow convinced that he has been discriminated against because of his beliefs have been particularly insufferable.

Maybe you and him can get together and pray for the end of starvation....diseases....for peace....???

that would be great. He can join tRant and join me as one of the top ten anti-war guys on Political Talk forum, where dudes go ballistic defending the military industrial complex

I would love for Tim to show up and stand up against the war machine

love you brother

of course, and I imagine you're not posting that as an argument against Matthew 6:6

No, I'm not. I did that in my first post about context.

You can't back away from something that envelopes every thing you are. Jesus isn't Lord of anything if you only take him off the shelf on Sunday

Mark 16:15-16 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned."

Matthew 4:19-20 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him.

Mark 13:10 And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.

This actually seems contradictory because doesn’t the Bible instruct us to spread the Word and to not hide our faith?

How is it contradictory to say, "don't make a spectacle of your praying so people look at you and marvel at how spiritual you are" and "share your faith with others so that they can come to Christ?" Two entirely different things. One says, "Look at me!" The other says "Look at Jesus"

So you think the Bible contradicts itself?

You mean you didn’t hear about how your dad threw the largest party ever held on campus, got kicked out of his dorm for skimming a deer in the public showers, or how he dated a Hispanic girl whose brother was in the cartel and they used to go down to Juarez to the strip joints and ran from Mexican cops in his sports car on the way back across the border?

You are using it out of context.
This was in reply to the Pharisees who would make long, loud prayers in Temple to impress the people.
God loves sincere prayer no matter how it's prayed.

praying with others and showy praying to get attention are two separate things

It's awesome that you're so close to him that you know his heart. But don't forget about scripture where it says if you have a problem with your brother you should go to him first...airing it out publicly isn't even the 2nd or 3rd option according to biblical protocol.

This is a stupid thread. You can pray alone and also share your faith with others at different times.

Lookie here Clem.. who the heck are you to start attacking people because of their religious beliefs... on a football chat board?

Know how I can tell you don't believe or go to church? Well.. just about every Sunday in every Christian church in America, millions of people pray together publicly, out loud. And before every football, baseball, athletic events, it is common for SOMEONE to deliver an invocation, which is a public prayer.

Damn it man... religion, warfare, and personal tragedy are topics you should stay far away from. Until a few minutes ago I usually enjoyed your shtick. Now? I think you are just an arsehole.

One "ah shite" cancels out 1,000 "atta boys." You just canceled all of yours.
