Thoughts on the Rose Bowl becoming the Omaha of CFB

Joel Klatt and Josh Pate have both said they think that the Rose Bowl should be where the Natty is played every year.
Would playing the game in the same stadium make it more special than it already is?
I kind of like moving around year to year. I think Nashville or Charlotte would be cool places to go.
Should the Rose Bowl be the Omaha of CFB?

No. It would be like having the National Orange Festival in Wisconsin. Rotation is the only answer.

No, the game should be rotated or at least be played in a more centralized location like Dallas

I love the idea. Ohio State has a ton of fans on the West Coast. Maybe rotate in between the Rose and Indianapolis.

The #1 reason I'd go for having it here at the Rose Bowl is because of superior weather and scenery and things to do over any other part of the country. You just can't beat it.
The #2 reason I'd go for having it here is because I LIVE HERE! Yippee!! I can drive just a short distance away without even having to get on a freeway and yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!, I'm there!!

This.
I can't believe someone even suggested Dallas in January every year. Sure, if you like ice storms.

Are they gonna rehab it and make it look presentable?
Anyone who’s been there knows it’s a dump inside with a beautiful view behind it.
It also doesn’t have the luxury boxes to compete with the other NFL venues that are in the CFP mix.
I’m open to it because of history and the fact that the only places you can guarantee decent weather that time of year are Miami, LA or a dome, but significant investment in improvements would be needed and I doubt LA cares enough about CFB at this point based on attendance to foot the bill.

All for it. It’s iconic. I can’t stand these generic stadiums like Mercedes Benz, Jerryworld, etc.
Play all the playoff games on campus and the National Title game in the Rose Bowl.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Rose Bowl. The bathroom thing sucks, but other than that it was a really fun place to watch a big game and the people who operate it and the entire scene around it do a very good job.

there are tons of places with the same amoutn or more things to do than pasadena. The venue itself is a nightmare logistically to get in and out of and I imagin ethe vast majority of attendees aren't staying in pasadena proper.
The Rose Bowl was a great trip but having the national title game there yearly, or ANY venue yearly for that matter, is ridiculous.

Only if Keith Jackson was still around to call it.

NO.
Unless they modernize it. I mean, can they renovate the exterior enough to put the concessions and the toilets beneath the seating area? Right now it is like hiking to the outhouse. Note to west-coasters, you can get flush toilets near the users (fans).
And vendors may like the traffic to and from the toilets. Without modernizing to 21st century standards, the Rose Bowel will always be a over-hyped, forlorn Olympic site with shallow sloped seating and poor acoustics.

Frankly it doesn't matter because with another round of playoffs only a handful of fans will be able to afford that sort of consecutive weekends of long trips to watch football. And that doesn't even take into account programs that are in it yearly.

No one gives a shite about CFB on the west coast so it would automatically make it a true neutral site, regardless of who was playing. I love the Rose Bowl and it would be a great venue to host obviously, but the CFP would be leaving a lot of money on the table by not having the game rotate amongst cities.

The extra round is at home stadiums

bullshite!!
Antiquated, poorly laid out stadium.
The extreme western part of the country, with LITTLE support for college football.
All the major conferences are in other parts of the country.
Ultra BLUE state with many social problems, including being seriously expensive
...is that enough, yet?

The Rose Bowl sucks. It’s just for people like Danny Kanell and Joel Klatt who hate the SEC to hype up Penn St vs Utah every year.

No. It should be rotated each year.
