The reality is the NCAA is a complete joke and clearly picks and chooses who they want to go after. It's Tennessee now, but it could easily be your team tomorrow!

The reality is college football is one of the dirtiest businesses you will ever find anywhere and 90 percent of the fans have no clue just how dirty it really is. The addition of NIL and the transfer portal has even taken cheating to a level even those in the know ever imagined. Giving money in fast food bags and stealing signals is peanuts. In fact, if all you're getting is money in a bag, you're are clearly not one of their top targets.

So while you're cheering that the Vols are getting investigated, just remember ALL THE BIG BOYS CHEAT AND CHEAT BIG TIME! Today, it's the Vols, but it could easily be my LSU Tigers next or even Alabama, which no longer has the Saban umbrella for protection.

If you do your research, you will find there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to what the NCAA does from day to day! And that is a FACT!

I'm not celebrating that it's Tennessee being targeted. But I do support the NCAA going after schools that allow NIL deals for their players that are in any way "pay to play".

The NCAA basically has ONE regulation for NIL. Schools have to monitor their players' NIL deals and if any are set up so that they are "used as an inducement for an individual to enroll or remain enrolled" at a school, the player must be suspended.

If the NCAA can show enough teeth to prevent pay to play, 95% of the problems with NIL go away and it might save college football from the NIL mess.

While it sucks for Tennessee fans that they're the example, if the NCAA is successful in setting the precedent so that other schools stop paying for players, it will be a huge win for college football as a whole.

The reality is we know that NIL deals for high school players aren't for endorsements. The player doesn't have fame yet to warrant such a payment before they even sign a LOI. At least with transfers you can argue the player might have enough fame to warrant a 6-figure payday endorsing products. But high school players, many of whom won't even start their first year? Unless they have a famous father or something their name/image/likeness isn't worth much yet.

So... sorry it's you getting smacked Tennessee. But I hope the smacking gets upheld by the courts so we can end pay to play.

In a perfect world, I would agree. However, NIL is pay to play no matter how you look at it. Name, Image and Likeness is a great idea, but it means nothing!

Georgia is the mastermind behind all this. Their action will be the end of the NCAA

All the controversy surrounding the NIL and the relaxed transfer provisions was totally predictable. Corruption wins.

It's actually not. There is only ONE regulation on NIL. It can't be pay to play.

The problem is there's been no enforcement of that rule so far. The NCAA starting to add teeth to that single rule is a good thing. But it's false to say that it is pay to play when the only thing NIL is not allowed to be by regulation... is pay to play.

I wish they had started 2 seasons ago rather than just yesterday.

Yes, we are all powerful.

And if the NCAA can't stop pay to play, the NCAA doesn't need to exist. What purpose would they serve if the only major infraction in recruiting can be ignored without penalty?

It will also be the end of college sports as we know it.

No institution has handled everything perfectly in regards to NIL, and there is a huge problem with unclear rules & regulations, but I think we can all agree that every aspect of Tennessee athletics need to be shut down forever.

I honestly don't have a problem with the NCAA regulating NIL. What I have a problem with is them deciding to go after schools for crimes that weren't crimes until a few months ago.

The NCAA is approaching everything wrong. They need to come to the table with all of us -- the schools involved in NIL -- and say, "ok, how can we regulate this fairly while complying with NIL laws?"

It's not hard but they have to swallow their pride and acknowledge that the NCAA today isn't the NCAA of old. If they're to survive, it will only be by consensus. That means the p5 schools are going to have demands to be met and it may mean that certain sports get more divisions in the name of fairness but it's not going to be them coming in after running off for 3 years and telling everyone they broke rules during that span of time that had yet to be passed.

Don’t flatter yourself, Tennessee. Georgia OWNS your team. Why would Georgia waste time trying to take down a pitiful program that poses no threat to them? If UGA did decide to go after a school it sure would not be UT. They aren’t worth the effort

My view is Kantian. You are either the dick that fricks or one who gets fricked.
