Would someone please splain the Saban spring ball hot mic about hurts?

On the field and watching the spring game, Saban had on a mic, and after Mac Jones moved the offense and Hurts yet again could not, Saban was inadvertently heard saying "Two years. I mean the third-team quarterback can move the team right down the field throwing the ball."

edit: Or maybe it wasn't inadvertent at all. Maybe that mean old Coach Nick Saban intended it to be heard.

Poor Jalen.

At day's end this entire story comes down to one salient point: if Jalen Hurts could read pass coverage and make downfield passes we wouldn't be having this conversation. He's had two years to learn and they provided the coaching resources to help him. The guy simply doesn't have the ability to do it for whatever reason.

Complaining about the coach not loving you enough isn't going to change the fact that if Hurts could throw downfield and make the offense multideminsional, we wouldn't be talking about this right now.

If he could "read" he wouldn't be in this spot to begin with!

BINGO!!..give the man a teddy bear!
This entire controversy is very simple (as you've correctly described it) and Saban understands it COMPLETELY. The man who can best get the job done...plays!

He wants to start, that isn’t likely to happen. Once confirmed then yes, everyone believes he’ll want to transfer

Hurts is not being processed. this thread is dumb. Hurts might be processing himself. There is absolutely no way Saban wants Hurts to leave. 2nd string players don't get processed just bc they are 2nd string.

Hurts has turned out to be a hypocritical crybaby.

Saban is so freaked out by anything that could be considered even the slightest weakness that he bails on you, even if you only have like 2 losses in 2 years.

You don't think Tua would have been 25-2 leading those same Bama teams that Jalen QBed?

Saban hasn't "bailed" on Jalen. Just b/c he may not be the starter again Jalen is considering transferring out after the season. Saban would likely love Jalen to stay on to provide increased depth at QB and/or to play another position (as he will likely have to do if he wants an NFL career).

He made this same kind of mistake firing Kiffin and replacing him with Sark right before the N.C. game.

yes. b/c losing a game with 1 second remaining is clearly the result of a decision made a week before and NOT the result of Clemson's once in a generation QB leading his team on a final drive with 2 minutes remaining to come from behind and win (you seem to forget Bama had a lead with 2 minutes to go, it's not like the Sark thing resulted in a stagnant O and a blowout loss)

Ga fans, regarding Bama's QB situation, there is an old saying about throwing rocks when you live in a glass house. You will have the same problem soon. Do you really think Fields is gonna sit for 3 years?

Why let some little chode chugging midget run you off. He has a free education for the year and he is close to graduating. I’d make their asses pay for everything I could.

I'm sure it is. Bottom line is Jalen won that POY for his running ability. It was a novelty, looked good but in the end wasn't gonna produce championships. Jalens dad even said he hadn't improved. He was Jamielle Hollaway. He could throw for 125 yds but could run for 125 also. In todays game it won't work.

Now he is 3rd string. People wanting to blame Saban are senile. Last season, Bama had zero threat of the pass. Can't play an SEC schedule when no one respects the pass.

He graduates in Jan. Someone, somewhere will take him but it won't be a team that Bama will need to be concerned with. I figure he lands at a G5 team. He's a great kid but not a P5 starter. UAB might be a good fit even. I hope he finds a place he can play. I'd love to see him at Ga Southern. He'd rewrite their record books for a single season.

Biggest thing I'm worried about is Mac Jones transferring. He is as talented as anybody and we will need him.

This board is terrified of Tua. Maybe if everyone tells Saban how mean he is being then he’ll decide to start Jalen. Y’all have 3 weeks. Hop to it

It is simple math to me. Best player for position - the guy that is not the best player for the position = the starter. You simply never heard anything from him until his position was/is at jeopardy. It is called a life lesson, you're not the best, you don't get the job.

That being said, see you at Auburn next year.

I expect Fromm to turn pro after 2019, while Fields is given ample opportunity to win the job between now and then.

A long way to go between now and then.
