Saban when asked about Hurts transferring, "I don't know". Perhaps meaning, if he did it'd make my life a whole lot easier.

Hurts: "No one has talked to me." Perhaps meaning, they don't seem to really care if I stay or go.

Definitely processed. That's the gamble anyone takes by signing with Bama. Saban is so freaked out by anything that could be considered even the slightest weakness that he bails on you, even if you only have like 2 losses in 2 years.

He made this same kind of mistake firing Kiffin and replacing him with Sark right before the N.C. game.

It sounds like something you are not used too. The truth. Which is pretty standard with Saban. Hurts is a 19 Y.O. whose HS coach/father has said will be the biggest free agent transfer in history if he is not the starter. And whose mother is even more openly adamant that her son is being mistreated for having to compete for a position where it is not clear he is the best player. Saban has been consistent and is taking the Hurt's at their word. The position will be decided on the field and after that he is not in control of the Hurts or the T. Tags families' decisions.

Sounds to me as pure textbook deflecting. Ignoring the situation until the other party makes a decision therefore freeing you up to make an opinion on the situation. They're both waiting on the other person to make a move before their position is revealed.

And if that's the case, that basically says Saban and the coaching staff don't really care if Hurts decides to leave. The truth is, if it were an honest competition week to week in practice, Jalen would've already lost the job well before the NCship game.

If I'm Hurts and wanting to transfer in conference, I'd tell them if I don't win the job, I'll transfer at the end of the year. I'm here if he gets hurt and you need me, but if he doesn't get hurt, RS me so I'll have two years remaining. Transfer as a grad in the off season and have two years at the next school. Florida would be an excellent destination.

Actually, I don't think Hurts would give up his RS if Tua were injured. It sounds like he's just biding time to get his degree rather than sitting out a year as an undergrad transfer. Hurts has mentally left the building. Even Saban can't put Humpty Dumpty back together. The sideline mic at the Spring Game said it all about how Saban feels about Hurts.

There's no doubt about it. I don't understand why the gumps feel the need to deny it.

This question has already been decided. Hurts is now third string. He will Redshirt and move on after December.

Must be tough going from SEC Offensive Player of the Year to an afterthought in a single season.

Something don't jive.

Third best qb on the team will be number 3 on the depth chart. Hurts is a son of a coach, surely he knows this. There is nothing to talk about. Bama now has two qb's who are better, it is now up to Hurts to transfer if he wishes to start somewhere else. This is how football works, it is what it is.

This is technically not how it is supposed to work

LOIs are complete bs with how kids/coaches play the system.

Yea, we're processing arguably the best backup QB in CFB. If he left, our #2 would have zero game experience and our #3 would be a walk on.

Who wouldn't want a situation like that?

This entire Tua/Jalen thing is apparently very complicated and confusing to a lot of folks.....but it's obviously pretty simple to Saban..and he's the only one that matters.
