Correct. I attended UAB, dont care much for the athletics at all. Have close friends whose brother played for UAB early 2000's. Outside of when he played, they dont care much about them. I was in a gas station a few weeks ago, they were offering a 4 ticket gamepack for 5 bucks with a coke purchase. There is just no demand for the product. They shat the bed after Bartow by not growing basketball, which was a success and had a good following.

Didn't ask you to be a smart arse. Was just asking for which version of the facts you were using.

Alahunter, you're kind of old. I imagine if you attended UAB you were there around the time the football program was started, right? We're you a full time student? For how long?
The only facts there are. That if UAB football deserves to die for not making money then so does 100+ other FBS football programs.

What are the "facts"? What injustice?
That the UA BOT has stood in the way of UAB developing as an independent university, even though that is in the best interest of Birmingham and the state. They have quashed every opportunity UAB has had.
UAB has a contract with Jimbo...BOT won't approve it;
UAB makes big push for on campus stadium because Legion Field is a dump...BOT won't even vote on it
The BOT and the President decided a long time ago that they were shutting this thing down, and went and made a fig leaf report to back them up. Read it. Pretty clear what they wanted. Asked the coaches for a wish list of facilities and then used that as "future costs." Nevermind that those facilities didn't actually have to be built and would also be partially financed via donations, if they were built at all. Also assumed the costs could not be cut...In short, they decided what they wanted and made it up to get there...And to do something that is detrimental to Birmingham and the state.
UAB football might not make much (if any) money...but it does better than most schools do. In any case, it adds way more in value to the school and the city than it is costing to run it.

I can't argue with your stupid logic. I get you being sad about a memory you shared with your dad. But why is it ok to lose money? I also read the city of Birmingham was losing money trying to help. I am not from Birmingham, but have spent a lot of time there at the airport. Seems on every newscast it had something to do with Birmingham being broke.
So instead of blaming the evil University of Alabama, why not be upset with the people of Birmingham. The students of UAB for not going to games. The alums for not supporting it.

Real talk, TnM. If there's one thing you never do with regards to Bama, it's "move on."

And to do something that is detrimental to Birmingham and the state
If this is true, and I'm assuming it is. Why isn't there a much larger backlash after news came down that UAB football was getting the axe? I no longer live in Alabama so I don't quite have my finger on the pulse of the state that I once did. I did however text my buddy who is a Birmingham native and UAB alum to ask what he felt about it, he didn't care. If it's such a detriment to not only the city but also the state how can so many people just stand by and allow it to happen?

If your fans weren't Melting over everyone talking about your crooked BOT then there wouldn't be so many people still talking about it. This thread is just another example.

The desperation of losing a close one to aTm, getting their souls crushed by UGA, and then having Bama run a train on them on ESPN prime time really upped the creativity of those lovable losers.
You've got it all wrong. aTm crushed our souls, UGA ran the train, and we lost the tough one to bama.
When will UGA and bama stop trying to claim the aTm inflicted melt?

Thank you for backing up my point. Aubie trolled UA on here fantastically. It served as a wonderful distraction to the Iron Bowl loss y'all choked away. Like I said, very impressive.

Do you even get the irony of an Auburn fan calling the UA board crooked? Look, another brand new University of Auburn - Birmingham fan, everybody! Yall should have the funds put up to keep the football team going in no time!

We will beat you any way you want. Ask LSU. Although i dont recommend their O (like yours in 2011 and 2012).

This board is getting to be like an elementary school playground more and more everyday.

so you say. It bothers me on a scale of 1-100 about a 2.

The injustice is killing a football program that was no worse off than most other mid-major football programs and acting like you're doing them a favor and they're some huge burden.
So, because other mid majors are drowning, UAB should drown too?

Watch that and tell you don't feel sorry for those kids.
Oh, I do feel for the kids - I really do.
I have a hard time believing that AU fans gives a rat's rear-end about the fate of that program or its players beyond the concept of "how can we make Alabama look bad"?
I'd hold a different opinion if the threads simply lamented the downfall of the program, or genuinely discussed ways fans could have helped - but considering how often the thread simply starts with "Alabama BOT blah blah blah", it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know it's all a sounding board for AU fans to try and cast their rivals as some kind of Bond villain.

They have always been masters of victimization. Never thought they would transfer it onto UAB though. It's incredible.
