Why would I want the SEC teams to do well? It doesn't help Alabama for LSU, UT, or Auburn to make a final four run.

It actually does. Extra $1.6M for the league for each game played.

Just looked it up. I can concede it's certainly not a small one. That's my bad. Not that we sell it out every game.

Yeah no...

Bama fans only care about NCAA football, they give two shits about basketball, baseball, NFL, etc.

Thought Auburn was outstanding last night and enjoyed every minute of it.

I like watching good basketball, hustle, fundamentals and good coaching.

As a Bama basketball fan I am now accustomed to living vicariously through other teams.

I'm jealous as hell. However, all 3 non-UK teams (UK is always there, obviously, so no reason to be envious) play an awesome brand of basketball and have rosters full of fun, hard playing kids.

So sorry to disappoint you I guess

You forgot that most Bama football fans are also UK/Duke basketball fans

I thought most Bama fans didn't care about other sports?

Also, Alabama has outdrawn LSU for a decade now, so what basketball team do LSU football fans cheer for?

If you've never lived in Tuscaloosa you will never understand the lack of fks to give about hoops. That is the reason we are such a shite basketball program. Football is the only sport we will pay to watch over and over and over no matter how good or bad we are each year.

If you had lived here you'd know that. People on this board are not an accurate cross section of the average Alabama sports fan.

I do think Tuscaloosa/UA is growing enough however to support a good basketball program if we were to make a sustained run for a while and actually gain legitimate attention.

Son, I was born and raised in Tuscaloosa...was going to Alabama basketball games when the Rocket-8 ran the court for The Tide in '55 -'56 at Fosters Auditorium. I've been to a many a sold out games at Coleman Coliseum (15,000 + fans) against Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and others under C.M. Newton and Wimp Sanderson.
I've said all this to authoritatively state that IF Alabama puts a quality product out on the court, they'll load up the gym!
QUALITY PRODUCT definition: A TALENTED, well coached and well motivated team.

Older, knowledgeable SEC fans from other schools will tell you the same thing. When we're good, we travel WELL!

This thread is trash. Yeah, I hate that Avery failed to do shite with the talent he brought in. But I’ve personally enjoyed the hell out of watching the 4 (FOUR) SEC teams advance to the sweet 16.

I loved the AU arse kicking last night, and pulled for UT today....I’m pulling for LSU/UK as well, I enjoy good basketball and enjoy it even more when the SEC is playing lights out.

You know they are watching with envy and covetous feelings. The vast gap b/w their football success and their floundering bball team drives them nuts.

Don't you realize that you're simply throwing back the curtain and showing everyone what a small minded person you really are with statements like this?
Myself and nearly all the Bama fans I know are pulling for the SEC teams to rep the conference well...hell, it makes us ALL like better when the conference does well! I've been saying this around here for YEARS, and some folks are just to shallow minded to understand its logic!

I’m not a big “SEC, SEC, SEC!” guy. That being said, I’m cheering for all you guys at this point. Good luck! And as crazy as this may sound, would love to see UT and/or AU make a deep run. I like a lot of these teams. Fun to watch.

Ah no. We would like Alabama basketball to return and represent itself like in the late 70's through the early 90's, and some day it will happen.

I always enjoy watching the conference do well outside the conference. It helps the argument when dealing with other conferences posters.

And I am content that despite losing last years NC game, that Alabama will be winning at least 2-3 NC more before Coach Saban retires. .

Just a small fact to end this. Alabama has won more NC in the Big Three than the entire conference combined has in the last 4 years.
