If you call 5-6 years of bad football a “dumpster fire” in the past 60 years then you are just a dumbass. OU has never been a dumpster fire.

Hey dumb arse, when did NIL take hold of CF? It is in it's infancy. Make your argument over the next 5-10 years. It's not just some rando on the rant that believes the future is going to be different for CF. Read some articles, read expert opinions, it's not that hard to find opinions that align with mine.

What do you see that indicates this change to you?

I'm not doing the work for you. Google it, ask ChatGPT, ask an educated friend. Call in & ask Finebaum.

Oklahoma was a dumpster for the years preceding Stoops with Blake and Snellenberger. Blake’s best season was 5 - 6 and 4th place in a 6 team division resulting in his firing. Snellenberger and his pipe disappeared after a video resignation.

Indiana wasn't bad because they didnt cheat. they didnt have the right coach, program buy in, or recruiting base pre NIL or transfer portal.
Has noting to do with cheating or not cheating.

Maybe to some extent, but explain Indiana now.
What about them? Are you saying there’s never been teams outside the regular powers that have had some success pre-NIL?
There will always be programs that punch above their weight class periodically, but the traditional powers are still going to rule the scene long term.

I think you could add about 8-12 who have an outside shot but they would be the same 20-24 who HAVE won almost ALL natty's since the 1940s or so. Those 20-24 programs are not playing the same game as the other 120 or so and have not been for a LONG time. In another 2-3 seasons I think that the same old teams who were dominating Natty's for so long will manage the portal and NIL better than everyone else and it will be the same 10 or so who have won it all for most of the last 80 years. There is nothing in the water at Tuscaloosa and Columbus Ohio that makes national title contenders, it is MANAGING a program to win national titles. Year in and year out. Someone could very well break the model this year and possibly over the next couple but it is not illogical to think that when it was illegal to pay players there were notably a handful of programs who were very successful and even with a lot of smoke never got burnt and those same people will get a handle on NIL and the portal and manage it better than the majority of programs. Take a look at the coaches fired so far this season....will more than 1 team upgrade? Probably not....that sort of mismanagement is always going to limit success....

Notre Dame and Penn State can still win a NC. I really hope we get a Texas Tech or Indiana title this year. It would be good for the sport.
At the moment you have Ohio State, Alabama, UGA, Texas, Oklahoma and Oregon still thickly in the mix. There is about a 50/50 chance that by midnight Sunday Texas, Oklahoma or both are looking at bowl games instead of playoff games leaving Ohio State, UGA and Alabama still in the mix just like they have been since 2017 for UGA and longer than that for the other 2....any one of the feel good stories of 2025 could beat one of those but it is unlikely...the more things change the more they stay the same....

Since you are not smart enough to use Google AI. . .
Will NIL change the balance of power in college football?
"Yes, NIL has changed the balance of power in college football by enabling more teams to compete for talent, leading to greater parity, though some concerns remain about potential long-term disparities. A study found that NIL is helping a broader range of schools, including those not traditionally seen as powerhouses, attract higher-quality recruits by empowering athletes to prioritize financial opportunities. This has resulted in a more competitive market where the "rich get richer" narrative isn't holding true, with evidence showing increased competitiveness in games and sportsbooks setting tighter point spreads"
Was that so hard? ...
So translated, buck up & you can win & you don't have to be a "blue blood".
See, that WAS easy....

I think PSU, Oklahoma, A&M, ND and Clemson belong on the list.
The reality is Clemson and PSU have the talent base needed. Yeah, they suck this year but they have the recruiting base to still succeed. It's especially true for Clemson who under Dabo doesn't want to use the transfer portal.
Beside each team is their composite talent rankings for the last 4 seasons
Alabama - 2, 1, 1, 1 = 5
Georgia - 1, 2, 2, 2 = 7
Ohio State - 3, 3, 3, 3 = 12
Texas - 4, 4, 6, 6 = 20
Clemson - 7, 5, 5, 5 = 22
A&M - 8, 10, 4, 4 = 26
Oregon - 5, 6, 10, 7 = 28
LSU - 6, 8, 7, 8 = 29
ND - 9, 9, 11, 10 = 39
OU - 14, 7, 9, 9 = 39
PSU - 10, 11, 13, 15 = 49
USC - 17, 15, 8, 11 = 51
Florida - 12, 12, 15, 14 = 53
Miami - 15, 14, 12, 12 = 53
Michigan - 11, 16, 14, 13 = 54
Auburn - 13, 18, 18, 18 = 67
Tennessee - 16, 17, 16, 19 = 68
FSU - 19, 13, 20, 17 = 69
It's about consistent talent. I don't think AU, UTk and FSU have that year after year enough to be one of the teams where you can realistically believe you can win a national title.
So I'll go with 15 teams.

It was a rough four year stretch under Howard and John but Blake did beat the whorns once with his worst team and Baylor all three seasons.

Yea... it's been the worse 5 year stretch in program history .
AU beat back to back number 1 teams and played for secc. KJ was hurt and we lost but a win gets us in the playoffs. .
Was 2013 a one off only 3 years removed from the prior one off... which was only 6 years removed from the 04 run off?
Gimme a break

This is a bunch of excuses.
It is basically bullshite as well...
Many of the blue bloods back in the day won titles with mostly local players.
Hell, Alabama won two titles in the late '70s with a backfield of all Birmingham guys.
Bama didn't need to "cheat" to get guys from Birmingham to come to Bama. And even if they paid them...how did that make them better players?
Missouri played with mostly Missouri guys back then. I guess the claim is that if Missouri had paid their local Missouri guys... they would have suddenly would have become better players and would have competed for a national championship somehow.
