2016 they beat both UF and UGA but we still won the East. Then they lost to Vandy which may have cost them a Sugar Bowl spot.
That 2016 team was never right from the start when they eked out that win over Appalachian State. They were awful against Florida for a half then kind of turned on the lightswitch. They tried their best to give that game away against a pretty average Georgia team. Then they had some OL injuries and the entire thing just collapsed in the 2 week period where they got bludgeoned by us and then lost to that not very good Muschamp Carolina team.

So a #20 recruiting class - ranking means little before performance of the recruits are known - should have a coach on an all time worst coach list after his first season? What a homer.
Yea, way too early for that for Harsin.

What a strawman.
Yours was the strawman argument ignoring results on the field and bringing in recruiting after his first season.
I'm not sure you know what a strawman argument is.

His first season he really coached hard. I think it was because there was nothing to lose. We lost plenty of games but for example that OT UGA game was one of the best coached games I’ve ever seen (for example multiple great calls on 4th and short) and then we had another great game against #4 South Carolina, etc. That sentiment stuck around but decreased over the next few years and then it was gone and his butthole was perma-puckered. He was in so over his head and everyone in the world could see it.
Stuff like kicking a field goal on 4th and inches on the goal line on the opening drive, prioritizing Hurd over Kamara until injuries forced his hand, and kicking an extra point instead of a 2 pt. Conversion in some absurd situation in one game (I cannot remember exactly) because the “chart” told him to.
And heaven forbid someone call him out on his bad decisions in a press conference. He’d turn beet red, give some bottled bullshite response about energy vampires, act like everyone else in the world was wrong and the decision was clearly the right one (it wasn’t) and then revoke the press credentials of whoever asked him about it.
Hindsight being what it is, that guy is just a bitch.

Agree - he just wasn't anywhere close to ready to be a SEC football coach in terms of dealing with problems. And those things didn't really start showing up until year 3 or 4 (because in the first year or two they aren't maginified because it's a building stage).
And also, he just didn't recruit any OL worth a shite.

Between Dooley and Butch our Oline got pretty much gutted (Dooley didn’t recruit a single lineman in one class…that is absurd) and that’s probably a huge part of the reason why we have remained in the dumps for so much longer than a lot of other teams in similar situations. It takes years and years to build the trenches and in the SEC it’s more important than anywhere

Scott frost has to be in the top 3 . Florida wanted him so bad but cooler heads prevailed and they dodged a bullet with that one
They might've dodged a bullet, but then they got hit by a shite missile.

Derek Doofus was much worse than Butch Jones.

If Venables cut off his hands and sent gamma rays into his brain to give himself a brain tumor that made him incapable of transmitting any information to the rest of his body.... he would still be competing for #2

After one year at Bama the fans were putting 100k in the seats for ADay and buying property in Tuscaloosa. At Auburn, Harsin was treated like he stole Pat dye’s pickup truck. Hardly the same feelings.

Yes they do. Because that class with Jalen Hurd was a legacy class. Most of those kids in that class had family members play for the Vols or they grew up Vols fans. So a better coach would have gotten same recruits with better results.

covering up rape
You got most of that right. But what rape happened that he covered up. If my memory is correct AJ Johnson was accused of rape but was acquitted of the charges by a jury. Johnson now plays in the NFL. The girlfriend of Bowls was cheating on him with Johnson’s and once she was caught she tried to accuse Johnson of rape. Once the evidence come out it was found that he did not indeed rape her that he was telling the truth about it being consensual.
As great if a player Dobbs was let’s not forget his support cast he had around him. He had the Berry Twins, Juan Jennings, Hurd, Kamara, Trey Smith, Derek Barnett, Josh Malone, Cam Sutton, Pig Howard, Todd Kelly jr, and Dillion Bates just to name a few. There is no reason that team shouldn’t have been in Atlanta. It has been the most talented team we have had since Fulmer was fired and Butch didn’t know what to do with it.

I think Muschamp was the head coaching in waiting at Texas behind Mac Brown when he took the Florida job …and he left as DC at Auburn to be the DC at Texas before that. He wasn’t a retread and was probably the hottest name in coaching at the time.

No GusShortBus at Auburn? List is shite. Gus has set Auburn’s program back years to rebuild.

Muschump should be a top five in mistakes at least!
