I feel like Pruitt and Butch Jones should be 1st and 2nd on this list.

Aside from his history metaphors, my favorite Dooley press moment was him explaining how he had to teach the team to shower properly. He was completely lost in his own head about how smart he believed he was.

And he also led UT to its 1st 8 lose season in school history to. He built a class on legacy recruits and that’s it. Without Dobbs, Kamara, Jennings, Hurd, Barnett and many others he don’t do shite. As soon as he started losing the legacy class shite fell apart for him as he was not building for sustainment. And everyone knows about Pruitt. If Hoover High wouldn’t hire him as a HC why the hell would any major college hire him as HC.

Yes they did and that should not be forgotten anytime soon.

Butch at Tennessee was not nearly as bad as everyone thinks. Not saying I would want him at LSU but Tennessee has made some terrible hires and terrible decisions in recent times (even around Butch) that did not involve Butch, believe it or not. The last time Tennessee had a real shot at beating Bama, Butch was the HC. That was 7 years ago.

Butch led UT to its 1st 8 lose season in school history. If UT would have had a good coach they would have beat bama and Oklahoma that year. That UT team was insanely talented Butch fricked it up.

If UT didn't have Butch Jones they don't have that insanely talented team.

So.......pick your poison.

This man just compared Brian Harsin to Nick Saban

This man is comparing Saban's all time record at bama to Harsin's first season at Auburn while completely ignoring Saban's first year at bama. What a homer.

Yeah Butch was in over his head. Took a team that had playoff caliber talent and lost to South Carolina and Vanderbilt. On top of covering up rape and putting a hit out on the player who alerted authorities. Lobbied the recruiting authorities to raise the rankings of the players he was recruiting. Stuck with awful slogans and coachspeak despite putting an incredibly awful
Product on the field week in and week out.

He was such a good coach that it took 3 years as an assistant before he could even find another HC job. Went 2-10 this past year. And as an assistant he was never promoted past his initial level. Went to Bama and publicly celebrated them absolutely smashing a team that he himself had built. The list goes on and on.

Anyone who thinks he was a good coach just wasn’t paying attention. Josh Dobbs is the only reason he lasted past year 3.

Isn’t it crazy that O isn’t on that list? Life is unpredictable.

What is the bare minimum Harsin has to do this season to keep his job?

Improve recruiting, which I think he is doing, and win a bowl game. He has shown he can coach the Xs and Os.

Butch got pretty lucky with an insane in stage/legacy class. And his reputation hadn’t caught up to him yet

His best ranked recruiting class (#4 I think) had 32 players in it and I think 6 of them ended up being meaningful contributors. The rest transferred out.

He was smoke and mirrors but of course we gave him the benefit of the doubt at the time

After his season at Bama, Saban had the #1 recruiting class.
After his first season at Auburn, Harsin had the #20 recruiting class.

Absolutely. It is funny though, I remember thinking his teams the first couple of seasons really played hard and did things well - especially the first 3 teams in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Then the 2016 season just kind of seemed to collapse and all of the cracks were just blown wide open after that hard fought A&M loss.

2016 they beat both UF and UGA but we still won the East. Then they lost to Vandy which may have cost them a Sugar Bowl spot.

So a #20 recruiting class - ranking means little before performance of the recruits are known - should have a coach on an all time worst coach list after his first season? What a homer.
