The Third Saturday in October still matters!

Surprised to read all the threads making light of arguably the greatest rivalry between the top two teams (historically) in the SEC! Of course TTSIO still matters! The rivalry is one of streaks, and while Bama currently holds the upper hand, many thought Fulmer's domination during the late 90s and early 2000s was just as strong. Coach Bryant once won eleven straight yet no game meant more to him. General Neyland had great success against Alabama but certainly respected them and once said ""You never know what a football player is made of until he plays Alabama."
I'm sorry some of you younger folks, who live only in the moment and in the age of instant gratification, fail to appreciate the rivalry. It still matters to a lot of people, and if history is any indicator, TTSIO will continue to thrill fans of both schools for years to come.

frick that rivalry. Y'all are single handedly ruining conference scheduling for everyone else. We would hear cries if Tennessee was actually worth a shite

It's not even a top 15 rivalry anymore
dwi.

literally no one outside of your two fan bases gives a shite about that "rivalry".
I take that back, many do give a shite, they give a shite because it is fricking up scheduling for everyone else. We have a new conference member 300 miles from our campus and yet will continue to play an opponent 1000 miles away instead all because of this stupid fricking antiquated "rivalry" that you two fat arse Appalachian hillbilly fanbases insist on playing every year.
And yes I'm mad.

Lets see the ratings for this game compared to LSU/South Carolina. Our game the week before was the highest rated college football game on that weekend.
I think it drew something like 6,000,000+ viewers...

Yet it was on ESPN primetime and has been all this board could talk about this week.
Alabama and UT will continue to play and fans of irrelevant no-history teams like ark and LSU will just have to accept it.

Yeah, I read all that on the other posts and that's why I responded. I don't expect LSU folks to enjoy TTSIO as much as Bama and UT fans. But I'm sure there are LSU fans who appreciate good rivalries and TTSIO is certainly one of the best the SEC has.

you're just saying that because you don't have to play real SEC east teams like Florida, Georgia and South Carolina and this game is a gimmee now with Dooley at the helm and whatever new coach they bring in.
But it's a rivalry game so throw out the numbers!

Texas and Texas A&M was a better rivalry...yet they were willing to give it up to move to a better conference
and guess what, the world is still turning
if the game matters so much, Bama and Tenn can play it as an OOC game when its not in the normal rotation
until then, frick you

do you guys honestly think Slive has nothing to do with what games are selected by ESPN?
he's been the one to bend over backwards to make sure it continues so of course he'll do what we can to appease both schools and get it on primetime.
But again I'm sure he has no input whatsoever

Alabama owns those programs, just like the rest of the SEC. I could not give a shite who else is on our schedule as long as AU and UT are there.

It anything the game yesterday shows why this rivalry doesn't matter.

I'd want those two on the schedule every year too

Get over it, it is a shitty rivalry and you all know it. If Tenn was owning your asses you would cry to get out of it. It's a rent a win in conference. Don't get me wrong I am not complaining because of scheduling. I am one that wishes LSU would drop the OOC rent a wins and stick to the tougher games becasue we seem to play better through the year. I also don't mind Florida and UGA, USCe because they are usually good well fought games.
