or having an extra man on the field until play called, is pretty much the same cheating as well.

The O can have several extra players on the field before the snap. As long as they don't meet the substitute player criteria, they are legal.

The rule and those supporting it look like fricking fools.

Because the "2" coaches in favor of the rule practice the two minute drill everyday. Apparently they do not want the rule to have an impact on their style of Offense. Just anyone running the HUNH.

Because these pussies can't play under fair rules.

Screw the pussies, just take a knee every play in order to get in subs, if the pussies don't like it screw um.

Of course....the point is EVERY team is looking to get EVERY possible legal advantage. There's nothing wrong with gamesmanship. If it's legal, do it.

i think it's bush league, a gimmick and basically bull shite.

So pre-1965 when there were NO substitutions, football was bullshite?

I really don't get the arguments about how the defense isn't "allowed" to substitute. Why should they be? Play the damn game! If you don't like what the offense is doing, stop them. And LSU has been particularly effective at doing just that, so I dunno what you're bitching about, fellow granddad.

The original point the OP made is correct. This is about substitutions and will effect most every play.

I'm still wondering how taking a knee on defense will allow them to get subs in

Because the point is the offense never actually forces the defense not to sub. The defense has every right to sub until the ball is snapped.

Yea right and the offense has every right to snap the ball while the defense is subbing which leads to a penalty.

Just some ideas ...They need to extend the players area on the sidelines to go from goal line to goal line. That way the d can sub in easier noatter where the ball is on the field. They could also change where the ball is spotted, adjust the hash marks closer to the middle ( I think this was done not long ago? ) and they could allow for the defense to sub on first downs without the on snapping the ball until subs are in and that would also give time for the chains to be moved and the refs are set.

FTR: I don't really care if the rule is passed or not and I see both sides of the agruemnts. Back in 08 when the rules changed, 25sec clock moved to the 40 sec clock, there were a lot of coaches talking about how it would be a huge benefit to the HUNH and it has which is why more teams are running the system nowadays.

I can see why the LSU guy would want to put an extra guy in to protect his QB., because when they play Bama he stays on his arse anyway!

LSU has the best defense against the HUNH offense anyway-the LSU tumble(people who get winded or tired-just hit the turf).

API would do what they do best-cry and whine. Just like they've been doing for 2 wks.now. They sure didn't say anything about a year and half ago when Saban approached the subject.
