re: The SEC Should Seriously Consider Kicking LSU Out

The SEC dragged LSU to court and LSU is merely a defendant. LSU has at no point challenged any aspect of the SECs authority. Not 1 iota. This is the power of the media. They can brainwash people into saying red is blue
The SEC filed the lawsuit when it became apparent LSU was going to move on with rostering and playing those players.
LSU balked at the last minute as a result and now LSU is trying to convince the world it was their intent the entire time.
That is the reality.

You're confusing the fact that LSU never rostered the players with the larger issue of the SEC's authority to enforce its eligibility rules. Those are two separate questions.
Probably because your title is talking about kicking LSU out for.....reasons, while you're also admitting they never broke any rules.

But a La. court order doesn't automatically strip the SEC of its contractual and associational rights or give LSU immunity from its membership obligations.

I hope LSU request a motion to have the schools vote on either kicking LSU out or not kicking them out. if voted to remain a member all this is dropped. If not then cya.
Put their money where their mouth is.

Then it should be easy for you to explain exactly what I've gotten wrong. Identify the specific legal finding that extinguishes the SEC's contractual and associational rights or releases LSU from its membership obligations.
Cite the language in the ruling. Telling me it's been explained in another thread while throwing around insults isn't an argument. You've had several opportunities to address the distinction I'm making, and you've avoided it every time. If my position is completely wrong, demonstrate it.

Sigh ..... another response, another opportunity to explain what I've supposedly gotten wrong, and another failure to do so.
Does the SEC have the authority to establish and enforce eligibility rules for its member institutions, subject to applicable law, or doesn't it? That's a straightforward question.
If you believe a Louisiana court ruling permanently eliminated that authority, cite the language establishing it. Otherwise, you're arguing against a position I never took.
And blaming someone else for your inability to disagree without personal insults says considerably more about your argument than mine.

Why wont he reply to that?

You are a voluntary member of the conference. If you think it's so bad, then leave.
Let me know when Mizzou & Ole Miss get enjoined in the federal suit.
Did you know Bediako never got an injunction?
Did you know the only reason Oats did not face consequences after the fact (even after the NCAA won)… was the fact Bediako played under a TRO?
Did you know the players who wanted to join LSU were granted an injunction?
Did you know an injunction is a step further than a TRO?
Did you know the SEC writing a new bylaw doesn’t change the law law?
Well, now you know. Try to stop being a dipshit for 5 seconds.

has the authority to enforce its membership agreements are separate legal questions. You seem determined to treat them as the same thing
Then keep it real. When has a league kicked out a member for not violating any rules?

Interesting isn’t it? He certainly found time to reply quite a bit to almost every other post in the thread… Let’s try posting it again.

A court order restricting the SEC from imposing specific penalties does not invalidate the SEC's contractual rights or eliminate LSU's obligations as a conference member

You're assuming the very thing that's in dispute. Whether LSU's conduct constitutes grounds for expulsion under the SEC's governing documents is a separate question from whether the conference has the authority to expel a member.
The SEC doesn't have to establish that some other conference has done it before. Its authority comes from its own governing agreements and applicable law, not historical precedent. And nobody has established that LSU is immune from consequences simply because it ultimately complied.

The reason why this thread is at 10 pages is because people obstinately won't read the legal thread and keep rehashing ignorant points
Or, more likely, they are emotionally untethered to any outcome other than the enjoyment of seeing so many LSU posters get spun up over the subject.
It has been quite a show to watch the repeated pivoting between the "we're LSU, and we do what we want" crowd into the "we punked Sankey and made the SEC backdown" crowd to the "we didn't do nothing and Sankey is mean and needs to go" crowd.
LSU isn't and shouldn't go anywhere. It is all posturing from all sides and a bit silly.

You're contradicting yourself. You acknowledge the SEC has the authority to expel a member, then declare it powerless because it hasn't done so.
You just don't understand. There's nothing stopping the SEC other than ramifications of doing it.
First of all, if it held a vote, the vote would fail. The SEC knows this so it won't do it because the egg on its face would be too much.
Also, if it did, LSU would rightfully sue in civil court to protect its rights as a member of the SEC. You think of organizations like the SEC as top down as if the headquarters hold all of the power. In truth, the bylaws are written very specifically, and members have tons of rights. This suit would probably be in the multi-billion dollar range.
The SEC would have to defend its acts up until now and justify it's impartial acts. It would have to acknowledge it's public campaign on the subject, it's communications on what its intent was in some of these acts, in particular how it relates to the Protect College Sports Act.
You want to know how to take down a conference? That's how. The SEC doesn't want any of that attention.
quote:
Choosing not to exercise that authority isn't the same as lacking it. And whether those players were properly classified as professionals is a separate eligibility question.
You can divorce your wife because she doesn't put the toilet seat down the way you like...but you won't because she's taking half your shite. You have the authority. But, you don't have the power. The classification of the players is only relevant to point out how absolutely dumb of a hill this was for the SEC to play the expulsion card. The players in question NEVER PLAYED A SINGLE GAME...and one of them NEVER EVEN PRACTICED A SINGLE PRACTICE.
But, as you said, the authority for the SEC still remains. It should expel LSU anyway...inspite of the facts...inspite of the monetary fallout of doing it...inspite of the weak strategic position it puts you in relative to the Super Conference reorganization.
It won't. And, I'm laughing at you because I know it won't.
